With the binoculars you should be able to hold left click to see the "ghost" of your marker, then release to place it. The binoculars are just helpful for placing markers at a distance because of the zoom.

Try to place markers on the enemy's side of an objective. The goal is to prevent them from getting reinforcements into an objective, not just to kill them.
Pay attention to your map when recon or a loach is in the air and target areas where enemies are clustered.

When I tried it I could place/select markers and call in recon/respawn, but it wouldn't let me select napalm/arty/spooky.

I use the binocs and it defaults to ask your squad to move over,you need to press 6 to properly mark an artillery location

Ive done plenty of camping and i got flanked time to time from people who know who they died from and try to flush you out
Constantly shifting your position by using recon is better,and if you're particularly good at flanking you should prioritize killing their commanders and snipers

Heres my review for pretty much anything TWI after RO2.

If you enjoy a game that has a very very promising future it will never live up to, it's the game for you. It could be a very amazing game, one of the best, but TWI will neglect the fuck out of it. It's still a good game, and scratches an itch that you couldn't get in any other game, but there's so much more it could be if only the devs and publisher cared enough.
