LA Noire is okay, but everything else is pretty bad. Mainly because of Matt. He's in all the recent playthroughs and he sucks the fun out of all of them.

To be entirely honest,

Liam is shit on his own. I've watched some playthroughs and a few streams. He just doesn't have the charisma to pull it solo. With the group he did well. Liam and Woolie could sperg to anime shit, Liam and Pat did decent for gunjumping shenanigans.

Likewise, WoolieVersus isn't much better. He's got arguably better editing, but his Naruto playthrough is garbage, and the Kingdom Death game just lacks any substance at all - which is not entirely the fault of the system - the game can be quite fun and entertaining, just the group he is with doesn't captivate me.

Leaving Matt and Pat alone has kinda taken a shit on the LPs. Yakuza 0 is better than their LA Noire LP but not by much. In both cases, these are not really much more than mediocre. And the whole scrublords/fisticuffs has gotten unbalanced with only 2 to 3 players. It tends more to a single player dominating.

I feel like Matt and Pat are the most reliable sources of quality. I really feel like Woolie doesn't add much to their dynamic and Liam did a fairly good job with Disaster and D4.

I feel like the forced fighting game segments every week were not a great idea as it's just them fumbling with something they're unfamiliar with. The only memorable ones I could remember watching were ones where they were ridiculously good at the game like when Liam savaged them in Smash. You're right that having less than four no longer makes it feasible - you need two on controls while the other two do commentary because there's absolutely fucking nothing interesting that can be said about the game itself so having someone solo the conversation bits just doesn't work.

I think the plot in Yakuza can be hard to follow because you're supposed to remember so many characters and they all have foreign names with 8-15 word long titles. Someone like Pat who's played through every game might have an idea of what's going on but I'm so lost whenever names get brought up.

Right now I'm playing Yakuza 2 and I remember Terada just because of the boat scene.
