Unavoidable Battle is by no means a bad song, and I agree that the unique songs are all consistently good. I just enjoyed the others more.
The only song I can't understand people topping their lists with is Last Surprise. Everything else I can understand.

The P5 soundtrack was ok, but nothing stood out to me really. And it's kind of odd, because I really like jazz. I think it would have went over better if it was based on more free form rather than acid/soft jazz. Battle music never got the blood bumping, it was always too slow. And that is a negative to me.

Honestly, in the case of Innocent Sin the PSP version was a step backwards in many ways. The battle UI became slower to navigate, clunkier and overall less ergonomic. The game was made even easier than before making it possible to beat without going to the Velvet Room at all. The only thing you miss out on is a fast-forward for battle (which EP PS1 has anyway) and Tatsuya/Maya running somewhat faster.

To be fair Fog is good too, it's just The Genesis is a total snoozefest but outside of P3 Meguro has literally never done an amazing final boss theme.

P3 had a more memorable soundtrack to me despite not having many songs (why the fuck was Deep Breath only used once when you're walking on the rails during the first full moon even?). Also the new songs in P3P were underappreciated and just as great.

yea its good. I feel like they didn't space out the tracks very well though. I only ever heard like 2 songs play for the first 10 hours of the game.
3-4 was just diverse enough in music placement .

in terms of vocal tracks they're still pretty shit just like 3 and 4.

Honestly, yeah.

My hot controversial opinion is that the majority of P3 and P4's soundtrack is super overrated with the exception of a few standouts like Battle for Everyone's Souls/Burn muh bread from 3 and some of the reincarnation mixes from 4 . P5's switch to more jazzy shit was a top-tier choice that made the soundtrack significantly better.

The fact that Last Surprise's first few bars doesn't make me want to kill myself like I REACH OUT/BABYBABYBABYBABY does is a fucking achievement in and of itself.

BABYBABYBABY ain't so bad on it's own, the only problem is you hear it every. single. battle. Reach Out to the Truth blows it's load to early, and could do with so much needed build up instead of blaring it's chorus immediately. It's part of the reason why Last Suprise works, since it doesn't start with YOU'LL NEVER SEE IT COMING right from the start.
