Even if you have the concept down, wouldn't it better to have some art to really work with in regards to how you want to make the music come out?

Focus on planning. Make sure you get every single detail perfect before you even start making the game.

Aim as high as you possibly can. Realistic expectations are for pussies.

Premature optimization is the key to everything. It's more important you get your code perfect than getting it just working.

Don't worry about art, there's plenty of artists out there willing to do everything for the exposure.

Finally, it's super important you spend all your time lurking in /agdg/ and other gamedev communities. You wouldn't want to make the mistake of actually working on your game, after all.
