Unlike the TV World, Tartarus gives you a single deadline which is January 31st which lets you be far more flexible with how you approach the game. The way Tartarus' floors are generated also means that it's not uncommon for you to find the stairs to the next floor almost immediately making progression a lot faster rather than running around a bunch of lifeless rectangles like in 4. Tartarus also has comfier music with all the dungeon music in 4 being a cacophonous mess except for Secret Base and Heaven.

I hate it because I sunk 25+ hours into it for no reason other than "the characters are great" or "it gets good" and got nothing to show for it.

I didn't care for the story, the characters, the dungeons and the boring filler content between bosses. The gameplay however was solid, I realized that when I played FES and actually had fun sinking 90+ hours into a solid jrpg.

If anything I hate /v/ for spoiling me on P4 and taking away all motivation to see it through to the end.

My favorite part of the game was the character interaction parts. The dungeons were a tedious annoyance until you get Rise up to a high enough level to allow your party to regen SP at the end of each battle. I was able to do Heaven and up in a single day thanks to that regen. All the other dungeons I was forced to do in chunks because paying Fox 80% of my money to refill my SP was not going to happen.

It's not that different than Mementos. Tortures you conquering up a tower each month, mementos you are going down a subways that open new areas at certain point of the story. Either way, both are a torture to do and boring.
The only good things about Mementos is that is not mandatory to do them every month as the only dungeon of the game. The interaction between characters is okay, but you can completely miss that if you open a door, open the menu or go into fighting a shadow

Tortures had something I enjoyed that was the mini and bosses + the full moon bosses, because in FES they could really kick your ass even in normal. P5 was way too easy after Kamoshida's palace

It just did not know how to end. The whole two hour explanation of how clever the Sae/palace twist was was just so stupid. If you have to overexplain something to that degree to get a point across, it's just not good.

Then the whole part where you're supposed to be dead but still can go out during the day. If you're not going to school shouldn't you be able to do anything you want then and not have to wait until after school for some reason?

The floors in tartarus were smaller than the p4 dungeons for the most part. Plus having a war point every 12 floors meant it was way easier to make progress and have time for slinks.

Honestly I think P3 is a lot less compressed than P4. It feels like 4 had more of am emphasis on character interaction than battling. I think I spent more time reading in 4 than actually playing the game.

They are so done with Persona. Alex and Ben will talk about Persona 5 occasionally, but Jeff seems so incredibly exhausted with the games even years after 4. It seems like he wants as physically little to do with it as possible, while still having a certain amount of expected coverage on 5 with the Bombcasts and the Quick Look.
Vinny seems to be in a similar boat, though he's got a family nowadays. He just doesn't have time for games longer than 20 hours anymore.
