Tifa has a lightspeed punch that is said to destroy the enemies on a molecular level. The other two cannot compete with her brute strength. Even Rinoa cannot tank that much damage. However, against Garnet, Rinoa can easily win because of her superb healing capabilities and the long range of her weapons. Garnet doesn't stand a chance without her summons. With them, however, she easily wipes the floor with the other two. Yes, the others can equip summons as well, and both Eden and Knights of the Round are stronger than any FF9 summon, but in my headcanon Garnet would gain control of them because she is a summoner first and foremost, wheras Rinoa is a healer and Tifa is brawler.

What makes you think so. The strongest FF9 summon is a cosmic battleship that launches rockets at the enemy.

In FF8, you have Eden. A being that transforms the entire planet into a weird launch plattform and then shoots the enemy into a black hole.

In FF9, you have Bahamu Zero who seems to be on par with Ark as far as destruction capabilities go and Knights of the Round who damage wise outdo both of them.

The battle system is not as good as in 7 or 8, but it's better than any modern FF. So people need to relax.

As for Squall, him being an asshole was INTENTIONAL. You were not supposed to like him immediately. It's a story about personal growth. If the character starts out as a great guy, there is no development for him left.

Perhaps it's how they're utilized. 9's summons are routinely used to destroy cities. 7 and 8's summons are used exclusively against single or groups of enemies. Firing an enemy into a black hole kind of loses it's flare when said enemies just take some damage and get right back up again.

It's all right, but the game starts out way better than it ends and drawing is kinda janky.
You either proceed fast being kinda underpowered or you take some breaks to draw spells and become quickly overpowered. Fucking no one just draws one rare spell from some tough enemy they're not going to see again once they figure you can just get more and more powerful by drawing out the battle you don't even get XP from for a bit longer.

It's not even that frustrating because it gives you good returns really fast, it just feels incredibly inelegant.

Keep in mind as PC characters they are all capped at 9999 health max, in essence any one of them is capable of a single move kill on the others. So it comes down to their unique character/game mechanics.

Tifa's limit break is multi hit, pointless in this match up. She does have access to the last resort materia and the phoenix summon materia, if the other two cannot apply auto life I think she's got this one in the bag,

Actually thinking about it all their limit breaks suck, they're all damage boosts in different flavors.

Oh, Rinoa can win if she gets the first turn and uses a hero/holy war to turn invincible for a couple of turns. No one else can trump that I think.
