Most games are free-for-all with 5 players or above so a novice losing quickly won't ruin the game for anyone (and losing quickly isn't guaranteed, because players can, for example, focus their efforts on a stronger player and just decide to ignore you, and then you can try to seize the moment). Most /domg/ games are mixed skill but in other communities you might want to check the intended skill level for the game, though. And of course, newbie games are also hosted from time to time, if requested I could also host one as a non-playing admin.
