You guys promised me the Switch would flop. Then why the flying fuck is it selling?
Sold out is not the same as selling. This is scarcity meant to entice the consumer into buying when the next shipment comes.

>nintendo will sell more switches if none are on store shelves
Genius.
>>379046785
what is artificial demand
they're creating the scarcity because they want to ride out any demand that exists to the holidays
It's a badass piece of hardware. The Switch proves that hardware > games.

>This is scarcity meant to entice the consumer into buying when the next shipment comes.
This desu. I had no intention of buying a switch ever but because they are scarce I'm gonna go line up outside target at midnight tomorrow.
>>379046853
>making consumers who wanted to buy a Switch anyway wait until the holiday to somehow sell more switches
You're a fucking genius. I didn't know business majors browsed /v/. How're your stocks doing?
>>379046785
Basic economics, artificial scarcity + marketing increases the market value and therefore how much people are willing to pay for a product.
>>379047395
That doesn't really apply if Nintendo is the only one selling the Nintendo Switch. Artificial scarcity doesn't really benefit them, since a Switch costs $300 whether there's ten or ten thousand. Artificial scarcity only benefits scalpers, who can charge whatever the fuck they want.

They added a 5th controller. Visionary. Then they put the console inside the controller. Bold; not just a low cost innovation changing how console games are played, but now the Wii can earn it's name against established hand held titans like the DS line of products.
It's so good that video game franchises are selling more copies of their games than consoles exist.
Welcome to the next generation.
Seriously though, according to Wikipedia:
Wii sales = 101.63 million.
Wii U sales = 13.56 million.
Switch sales = 2.74 million.
It'll overtake the Nokia N-Gage soon.

>/v/ is wrong
wow how surprising
>>379048773
That's total lifespan sales compared to a system that just recently launched you retard.
>>379050154
That's just the Switch's first month sales, it's estimated to be above 4 million at current point. If Nintendo fix their supply isssues it will probably surpass the WiiU before end of year.

>If Nintendo fix their supply isssues it will probably surpass the WiiU before end of year.
Their planning to have shipped 18mil by march next year so I wouldn't be surprised if it at least close.
>trusting /v/
>ever

st the Switch's first month sales
No it is not, though it may be higher now. Also the first month sales are behind the first month sales for Xbox One and PS4.
>>379052447
Yes 2.74 million is the amount of Switch's Nintendo sold in it's first month.
>>379048773
>Wii sales = 101.63 million.
LOAL, and you believe these lies and made up facts? Surely you do since you get your info from (((Wikipedia)))
>>379054487
I think Nintendo's own financial data is pretty reliable.
>>379054840
DELET THIS
>>379054840
>As of march 31st.
Whats todays date anon?
>>379046346
I don't see success anywhere OP, it still hasn't outsold the WiiU. Wake me up when that happens
>>379046874
>The Switch proves that hardware > games.
This has to be very clever bait. It just has to.
>>379047008
If people would want a Switch then they would've pre-ordered beforehand. One of the biggest online / retail gaming stores of my country just put down the following:
Nintendo Switch : 6th shipment
Available: XX/XX/XXX
This works and gives everyone who would've wanted one from the start the chance to get one.

June 4. But I doubt many Wiis have sold between March 31 and now.
