I think the later is better as well. I can't see why especially Ratchet fans think the original was better, it aged by far the worst in the series.
The only thing the remake was worse at was length (Sony's fault because they underfunded it) and story (handicapped by the movie).

next RC game might as well come out before Spiderman, the are quick at making those games (the remake took them 10 months and just 60 people or so) and they work on more games at one time

Only slightly in my opinion. The combat was of course miles better then the original, though I wish there where more of the original weapons re-envisioned, but the music is nowhere near as memorable and the plot is all kinds of fucked since they had to accommodate for the movie. And as for pet-peeves/nitpicking: I love Nefarious but hijacking the first games plot was kinda lame and I do worry he might get overused if no new villains are made in any successive games.

Still platinumed the game however.

Nefarious' old design was way better. Most things about the remake are generally shit in comparison really.
A couple of the weapons are better, and the updated planet designs are alright.

The story was turned into trash because of the movie, all of Ratchet's character was removed, they changed the final boss to Dr. Nefarious, numerous planets were cut or merged, there was almost no original weapons instead deciding to port most weapons and the annoying upgrade system from Future, the weapon selection was pretty shitty as well, they completely replaced the original OST with generic and forgettable orchestra music...
I could go on and on

All they had to do was remaster the graphics and bring the controls up to standard with lock strafing

The music in the original game is too memorable not to notice the cut and merged planets, and the Future weapons and upgrade system should be glaringly obvious to anyone who's played the future games

Like I said originally, it's an okay game by it's own merit, but it's missing so much compared to the original game

I played the ps2 R&C games and I don't get it either. I never really cared for the story in these games. 30 fps was a disapointment but it was perfectly stable so it didn't really hurt the experience.

What it is doing is getting the three original games and making it more "modern", trying to improve using things that ND didn't have making it. Either way, it should be striving to do better. Don't get me wrong, I will still get it but there are some niggling stuff that irks me.

But most of the time when they improve things it's things that definitely need to be improved. I never had an issue with the framerate in the originals, so I don't really mind that it hasn't been improved in the remakes.
