I remember when Obsidian was the last bastion of good game development. But I no longer believe they are capable of delivering the kind of quality that we saw in KOTORII, Alpha Protocol, MotB, and New Vegas. We probably won't see games of that kind for a very long time.

For all the shit people throw at Fallout 4, i think it did some great things i'm eager to see in the next games.
For example the face editor was pretty fun to mess with, the shooting was finally made fun but the most important i think it was the map design.
It's a shame people don't give credit to how F4 adds verticality to the maps. Walking in Boston feels like you're in a city center and even inside the buildings, they feel more real because of that added verticality. If you even pay attention, most maps you're fighting beasts up and down the levels in the buildings, something you barely ever did in their old games.
If it's one thing i want to keep from 4, is that verticality.

Yeah, it seems that Obsidian is not what it used to be. But that does not really matter: old companies lose their spirit, and it passes on to other and new ones. And there has been a massive resurgence in interest in higher-quality titles over the past five or so years.
The problem is that most of that new passion has not been exactly rewarded.
