Yeah anyone who says anything but Double Dash hasn't played it or has some weird niche preference that I would honestly like to understand. MK, MK64, and DKR were all kind of sloppy when it came to controls. Lots of sliding into things and in general not feeling great to control. MK:DD eliminated that .

I think it's all about comparisons. Play MK8 then try going back to DD. DD is hands down one of my favorite games but if you put it next to more modern kart racers it's slippery as fuck. Didn't stop me from getting 100%, though. I miss my old save file.

I'm inclined to think it's MK8D, DS was fantastic for its time though

Well then the problem is that MK is better when it's less slippery. I did like 8 or infinity or whatever it was called but I feel like DD was a lot more forgiving for fuck ups than MK and MK64 especially.

It's a massive improvement over the original, the transform mechanic keeps the stages interesting, and it has difficulty beyond rubber banding bullshit.

Everyone says they don't like the boat controls, usually because the boats are hard to manoeuvre, but that's the whole point, and I liked them for challenging you in that way.
