People keep recommending it as a horror game, it's ridiculous. It's always been a frantic fun shooter with a horror theme and a few jump scares. Might as well call Blood horror.

Lots of 20 something-year-olds view the game with rose-tinted glasses because it was probably their first game with mature themes. And well, let's face it, shit like clone soldiers, bullet time and creepy girls seem rad as fuck when you're a kid. When I was 12 I was blown away by it, but playing it now, I can't help but see a heavily flawed game; the repetitive environments, the wonky controls, the terrible voice acting and silly cinematics all ruined the overall experience. I couldn't even finish the damn game.

It's a shame, I loved it when I was younger, but it's aged horrifically.

FEAR 2 is way more spooky than the first, but it doesn't have as good schutt

Then FEAR 3 is actual garbage and should never be played.

Something about the way your character moves just seems off, and the melee system is pretty bad. Often when I'd try and land a bicycle kick on a soldier I'd just end up hitting him with my pistol instead.

Right the melee can be a bit wonky youre right there (though honestly fps melee systems in general are fucked in one way or another) but no idea what your issue with the movement is at all

FEAR will be dated when another fps will deliver gunplay as good and ai that's as fun to fight, hasnt happened yet though

It's a good game. I play FEAR Combat regularly, quite a few people are still playing it, it's fun.

Only thing I can complain about is that the level variety is a bit stale and can drag on. Other than that its bretty good and can be a little spoopy at times.
