Who else had all their vidya friends move apart from them? Or had another game you didn't care about (Dota 2 is the commonly cited one) completely dominate their vidya time, to the point you don't really play anything together anymore?

You seem to be the opposite of me/most people. Most people are content to watch series by themselves and just discuss them later, but to sorely miss buddies for co-op and so on. The idea of watching a long-ass series with friends sounds cumbersome, especially as I usually binge watch them at bullshit times of the day

I haven't had a friend in over 10 years. Not even online. The loneliness gets to me sometimes, but I'm pretty sure I'm not missing out on too terribly much that I would personally find interesting.

I had all my high school friends lose touch, two of them decided to move on to /mu/ and partying with normalfags, last guy doesn't like playing multiplayer except with one of the other guys. I used to think it was because he thought I was bad and just dragging him down, but in pretty much everything we played, I outclass him pretty hard in terms of rating and usual score. I used to always try to get him to play multiplayer on any game he was currently playing and he'd usually turn me down, so I just went and found another group of friends.

About 8 years later, he's finally not able to get the other guy to play with him anymore and he's started asking me to get in to games he likes, but I just turn him down since he's never willing to reciprocate.

I know that feel.

You're either way smarter than them (without much braggadocio) and they all resent it while denying you any and all credit for anything, or you mistreated them in the past but now treat them respectfully, but they are just taking the opportunity to shit on you until you hopefully have enough and move away

You can call me Ms. Cleo.
>>
>>379029807
vidya friends are temporary for me, but a few have stuck around for more than a few years. too bad they're mostly cunts and can't cooperate with each other.
>>
>>379030573
Same, but with my whole group. I've been in the same group of friends since middle school when we played Smash Brothers, Halo, and Counter Strike together. To this day we still talk daily, hang out after work, and play video games at least twice a week together. Hell, we've even had people we met online move over to our state and we hang out with them too. I've had the same buddy from Canada since vanilla WoW and even though we've only met a handful of times in real life I still talk to him every day.
>>
>>379034613
You don't have to play the same games as people to be their friend bro. There are periods of time where my buddies and I are playing completely different games, yet we still talk daily.

Online gaming is a beautiful thing.

My wc3 friends went to WoW and I didn't follow and we lost touch. I never made online friends again after them.

My irl friends are casuals so I'm limited to Rocket League and Fifa with them, still good times
>>
>>379029807

Pretty much, all my old college buddies are either on console, play overwatch or dota, or flat out don't like online.

Meanwhile I'm eyeing Tekken and Guilty Gear and lamenting that none of them will be interested.
>>
>>379036352
I know, we still talk plenty when we don't have a game in common, but these days it's basically something I can always count on. Just wish my friends were into more of the same types of games. I feel like they should be since we all met on /v/ in the same thread.

They just like to have me at hand to laugh at me, fucking faggots pretending to be nice and coming along just o have some laugh stock for later, I hate them so much, I don't play any video games with them any more, some times they come along and take me to play D&D, I usually don't refuse because I don't have any other shit to do any ways, I just wish for them to die so stop bother me with their shit already.

They didn't even have to go anywhere.

>3-5 big new releases come out
>Friends seem to always somehow pick the game ranked about 'C' in terms of popularity
>Makes it almost impossible to guess which FOTM they'll choose, it's not even like they go on /v/ where I can rely on them all to choose the most non-garbage contrarian option
>And with the term FOTM you already know where this is going
>It's always the one with the expensive extra online usage fees, or "you gotta get the new DLC man, otherwise we can't play"
>By the time I weigh the options, save up some money, see if the game survived longer than a couple weeks, and finally buy a copy and DLC/subscription, I barely get a chance for one session with them, if anything, before they've already moved on to a new FOTM or defaulted back to the last FOTM
>Of course, the last FOTM that they keep defaulting to is always the one I keep avoiding because it seems like they keep dropping it quickly and I never expect them to pick it up again
>And of course, once I finally realize they're going back to an older FOTM and I pick it up, it's almost instantly dropped
>And whenever I say "fuck it" and actually get the game they all get on launch without a second thought, in an attempt to try and keep up, they all drop it in a matter of weeks.
>It's not like I ever even get a chance to play with them for them to deem me a shitter or something to avoid me

It's like they're consumers first and video game players second, the real thrill for them seems to be the purchase.
>>
>>379039562

That's the problem of richfag vidyabros. Too many options, they just keep growing their library and never really stick with anything

Growing up, we had a couple of friends like that in our group, vastly out of touch with everyone else, so they got made the butt of a lot of jokes. After graduation, I realized the horror of what we did, and I see my current hell as simply penance for what we did. It's a fitting punishment, considering most of them grew up to be well adjusted with families and well paying jobs, while most of us in the old guard sit miserable with no one to step on to make ourselves feel better. It is the way things should be.

In truth though, nothing, not even death, could earn forgiveness for the crime of alienation.

I know that feel. I also treated a bro like shit (which just took it on the chin and rarely ever fought back), then grew up to realize what I had done, but it was too late. I tried to treat him well after that, but the truth is, you can't repay evil with good - Treating him well is what I owed him (or anyone) to begin with, I'm not paying for shit

He hung out with me for a couple of years and then moved on - I apologized twice or thrice for all I had done, but he never said anything. I always got the impression he never forgave me, and I don't blame him
>>
>>379040883
I think some of those folk are simply better adjusted and have other things to occupy their mind. Years later, they look back on things and are a little upset, but ultimately don't care because there's simply other things on their plate. In a way, we're our own tormentor in that regard, and somewhere under the skin, we're upset at them for not being mad at us -- at least then we would be on even ground, but their indifference suggests we were simply nobody at all from the start.
