If you never challenge yourself by taking critique and trying new things your art will never improve.
When I was a kid I had the same problem.
Growing up parents and teachers said I was a "great artist", which just blew up my ego and I never felt the need to practice or try new things because I was Just That Good.
Eventually as I got older I realized I was just being a child and started trying to new things and my art abilities skyrocketed very quickly.
Meanwhile Chris-chan never once realized this and has just stagnated for the past two decades.
All of his stuff looks the same. Same angles, same poses, same character bases. His best looking stuff is when he tries to do stuff out of his comfort zone.
