id rather not have an ugly ass case and have something mildly appealing. and still not spend more than 80 dollars :^)
>>
>>379014556
Sorry for wanting proper cooling and more than 2 drive slots.
>>
if i bought a prebuilt could i still upgrade it? lookin at a pc with a 1050 and i'd probably want to replace that gpu with a 1080 or some shit in the future.

or would i have to build a pc from the ground up?

don't give me any bullshit like "durrhurr don't buy prebuilts anyway" because i don't fucking care

>>
>>379014816
of course you can. why wouldn't you?
>>
>>379014816
You can upgrade a prebuilt. The reason people say to build your own PC is because a prebuilt is just someone selling you a PC they built at a huge markup, there's no difference.

So if you buy a prebuilt, nothing will prevent you from upgrading it.

It's not buying anything bigger than 6TB right now, so I need multiple drives.

Why the fuck would I have a NAS setup for one PC?

>hurr durr have one small PC and then another box for your drives, the total of which take up the same amount of space as a normal sized PC

It all depends on the store, like a prebuilt computer is the exact same thing as building it yourself. Only problem is that bad stores overprice and have bad parts in their prebuilt computers. But if you just do a tiny little bit of research you can see if it's a good computer or not.
Most stores even let you choose and pick your components yourself.
>>
>>379015124
Not him and I understand your point but since I run my own seedbox I found it better to have my NAS separate so I wasn't using computing resources and lagging everything to shit. It was like night and day getting my NAS and freeing up all those cycles. Plus I can stream to my tablet which is great for watching anime.

only makes sense if you actually need the extra pcie slots or more than 10tb of storage. The majority of people don't need that, sli isn't worth the extra price premium/power consumption for such shitty support.

I just like having the extra room when I build, and most full towers look better than their mid or sff counterparts.
>>
>>379016773
you're not even paying a price premium for the form factor anymore. Sure you'll have the ncase and the dancase but it's only a matter of time for fractal or silverstone to imitate the design and put out their own version of it. node 202 is $70, sg13 is $40 and coolermaster elite 1xx cases are around $30. More and more sfx PSUs are being released, the corsair sf series is rated for gold efficiency but are actually capable of platinum efficiency in some cases.

I did and the cooling is actually better than larger case thanks to the high pressure front fan. I no longer game as much as i did 10 years ago and it's running a 1050ti with 3 SSDs.
>>
>>379015914
A normal tower case is very likely going to be the most cost-effective option, along with a mATX or ATX motherboard. There is no reason to go out of your way and likely pay more both for a tiny case and a fully-featured ITX mobo just to get a small computer if you're not extremely constrained in terms of available space or otherwise have a small PC fetish. I can see ITX being useful for shit like small HTPCs to fit in a TV cabinet or for builds like small home servers or dedicated routers, but there's no reason they should be the default go-to size for a gaming computer.
>>
>>379014816
>>379014906
>>379015505
>>379015880

The "never buy prebuilt" idea came from the fact that almost all prebuilt pcs had proprietary sockets and cabling that specifically did prevent you from upgrading outside of that manufacturer's parts. Some things are still proprietary (such as motherboard pins that just plug directly into a case cable and will never let you switch the case without some splicing, which can be a problem if you try to switch to a wide profile GPU that doesn't fit), but for the most part you're safe buying prebuilts if you're okay paying the upcharge.
>>
>>379016986
More like it's just for aesthetics since the case likely has a bottom intake for the PSU and the PSU exhausts straight out, so it won't affect temperature inside the case.

450w sfx gold can be had for the same as a 450w atx gold

It's just not that practical for me honestly, I don't know how you guys do it

I've gone from one SSD and HD to now 3 SSD's and 4 HD's.

So 7 drive bays.

I'm not buying a whole other box just to do what my PC can easily do. For storage, to record, stream media to devices, games, music and what ever else.

My PC is constantly on. It has a spot next to my desk, which has 3 main screens and another small one. So space isn't an issue.

Why do you need to hide your little box away when you have a whole desk you probably use anyway?

Anyway, for me my PC has carried through years and I don;t mind it taking a little extra space for better functionality

Why not? NAS is surely fast enough for gayming unless you're a turbo autist, plus if it's that much of a bother you can always use a 60/120GB in your NAS as a cache.

If your current set up suits you fine then thats cool, but NAS is a valid option for a lot of people especially if you want some kind of media hub without having to have your computer on 24/7. I certainly don't want my computer on that long seeing as it's in my room.
