Is NFS 2015 any good now? I played it on PS4 when it came out and it was decent but the rubber banding was fucking cancer. I heard they fixed that in a patch. Got a racing wheel and have been playing Project Cars and American Truck Simulator, but I'm craving an arcadey street racing game.

I've been playing it with an oculus and I've been doing just fine with the xbone controller that came with it. The rumble on it is really neat but the dpad is shit and the sticks feel really small. I've only been sticking to the rear wheel drive 60s car though, I enjoy the slow car fast feel and ridiculous drifting.

No, it's surprisingly great. I can last for like 3 hours in there. I think the rumble helps your body feel like it's doing what you're seeing too. The only things that get me are the water splashes and if I do too many 360 degree rolls.

The PC version of Hot Pursuit 2 is kind of an oddity, it uses the point system and menus of the console games, but does include some features of the PS2 version like the police tactics and the car-specific HUD gauges.

Having looked at them side by side, PS2 is far superior just for the extra graphical effects- world reflections in wet roads, the smoke and fire in the forest, the bubbling lava at the volcano, etc. The sharper and less color-barren textures are a bonus.

PC does run at 60fps, though, so that's a plus.

You can use a patch or speed hacks to trick the emulator into doing 60 fps. Hot Pursuit 2 is actually one of the few 30 fps games that I can defend, the other ones being Project Gotham Racing 3/4.

I was playing the Australian-only Holden/HSV version of that Adventure Racing the other day and it was some kitschy fun.

There's a lot of variety on the N64 with different arcade racers and early console sim attempts (the F1 games, V-Rally etc).

Then you somehow manage to have all these great futuristic racers F-Zero, Wipeout (albeit not the greatest port), Extreme G and Episode I Racer on the same console. Aero Gauge was hilarious also.

Wipeout isn't even a port, every track you have in there is technically exclusive to N64. They took Wipeout 1 and Wipeout XL tracks, reversed them or mirrored them then visually redesign them. The physics are also made intentionally closer to F-Zero. Singleplayer structure was different, new weapons, splitscreen multiplayer. Most people don't seem to know this because the HUD and ships are lifted from Wipeout XL, but Wipeout 64 is a N64 exclusive Wipeout Gaiden game of sorts.

Yea, always a good idea to be maxed out with your parts as soon as they are available when battling a boss. Turning off shift assist can help I guess but I had it on and didn't really have too much trouble beating the game. It's just preference really.

Physics are just right. You can tell it's arcade and doesn't give a shit, but you can feel that certain driving properties are still preserved like PGR. Back then I think Codies described that the game is built to capture the excitement of motorsport racing first, which is very clear. Secondary stuff would be making your racing team without getting to simmish. No spreadsheets, just customize your livery and fuck up Ravenwest. Good balance of disciplines. Top tier Codies menu design. Do bonus objectives for big cash payouts. Receive checks in 7 figures which literally slam into your bank. Vanity things like decals have a major/minor system where major sponsorships are huge stickers and affect your payouts. Everytime you finish a race and earn a new sponsorship, it makes you want to go back to the livery editor and strategically swap out sponsors because fuck you I want more money. They took all this out in GRID 2 for earning YouTube fans, like what the fuck. GRID 2 also had a lot of stock cars and retarded fake feeling driving physics. Autosport tried to fix things but all they did was make the cars artificially retarded to drive and the old sponsorship and money system was still nowhere to be found. Menu is conservative and lazy.

It's just It's arcade stage 3 ver.2. Before the FRs were patched to not be dominant.

It does have a story mode, a large track list, and it runs faster then most other arcade stage ports. I haven't personally played it but I've heard positive things about it.
