Resources. Back in the day the easiest way to make a female was to add two spheres to their chest, and there wasn't much more you could do outside of that. Now more time is spent modeling detailed parts of the body, and as such you can't get (good) titty-monsters. The game in general is disappointingly linear. Sure there is a nice build variety and most individual quests have few possible approaches which is great, but the main story is linear as hell with no choice whatsoever except choosing an ending cutscene. Logically you should be able to dump the Prince and go work with the Anarchs almost as soon as you reach Downtown, but nope.

If you insult strauss at any point in the game or betray him during the gargoyle quest it locks you out of his ending. So your choices CAN affect endings up to a certain extent.

They definitely meant to add a Sabbat option though, because if you do a low humanity run your character will often praise the brotherhood of the 9th circle, bishop vick, andrei and the sabbat whenever you meet them, which is quite interesting because you can never actually join them.

As for the anarch thing, you CAN join the anarchs in downtown once you finish the plaguebearer quest, and the dialogue changes with the anarchs in the bar if you do. The prince also says at the end of the game that he knew of your anarch affiliation but overlooked it. Unfortunately it doesn't lock you out of the prince ending even if you do join then, but there is unique interaction because of it.

I do get your general point about the linearity though, they devs needed more time.

I like the VTMB Atmospheric setting. Combine that with the improved eyes mod and you are pretty much set. The game will look better than many games that came out several years later. The improved eyes combined with the amazing animations look really fucking good.
