Can you actually punch upwards? It seems like a crapshoot whether my punches actually track jumping opponents. I tried angling my joycons up but I'm not sure if it actually does anything.

That was a blast. I did moderately better this time and finished with 85 points. I played couple first matches with Helix and then tried out master mummy and he was pretty much all I played with. Master mummy was a lot of fun and his raw power felt like something. Just pushing everyone's ARMS out of the way with my own had an UNF feeling to it.

Luckily I didn't fight a single ribbon girl. Apparently she makes quick work of master mummy.

I think I'm cancelling my preorder. Splatoon 2 comes out in a month and for me that game instantly replaces ARMS once it comes out. I also feel a lot of the tactics in this game would just become boring and you'd play against Ninjara and Min Min every game in ranked. Also, how the fuck do you defeat a mummy that keeps healing himself? If you try to pull him in he just hits you twice. Mario Kart and Zelda is definitely worth the money but I'd say this game is a 7/10.

With counter/reversals in most fighting games, if you land them the opponent takes damage so if they keep attempt to grab you again after that and you keep countering/using your reversal they'll either lose the game or stop doing it.
In this game, if you punch Ninjara's arms he takes no damage and there's hardly any cooldown. Which means he can keep doing it over and over without really getting punished for it.

So Hoops has catch up mechanics, right? Whenever I get ahead by a sizeable margin, it seems like the game starts throwing the enemy bones. The bomb will track me, it'll just follow me around the arena no matter how much I dash. My shots will start to miss; thrown enemies will just bounce off the rim.

It feels really unsatisfying when two 2-pointers in a row just bounce out.

I really have a problem with characters that had mobility as MinMin, dragon megawatt just don't work, at the time I thought to change for a dragon ramram all the ninjara and ribbon left the room, next test I guess

Man I had fun this time. I went into about five different lobbies and earned somewhere around 20 in three, 30 in two, so it's safe to say I probably got above 90 points total.
Ninjara and Mechanica are really great so far, Springman too. I love when you're fighting someone who has the same fighter as you. Who is the better ninjaman? Who is the better robololi? I think it's a fun thing to find out.

Has anyone else been making use of the guard counterattack? You dash as soon as an attack hits you while blocking and their arm falls to the ground, making it easy to find an opening an attack. It's really damn good and probably safer and more efficient than dodging as long as you're careful for grabs. You can dash forward after it too.
