As someone who is GM in HotS and was Challenger in LoL for three seasons, HotS players are much, much better at teamfighting. The difference is actually unreal.

In terms of macro/drafting however most HotS players suck ass even at a high level, but that's probably just NA being NA. LoL isn't a particularly deep game either for what its worth.

Winrate isn't everything. Auriel, Muradin, Alarak, Tassadar etc... are all evidence of that

I played this trash to get the shitty overwatch skins with a friend. Those were some of the worst games I've played in my life. Somehow the beginner HotS players are infinitely worse than beginner LoL or beginner Dota players. Feels like nobody even bothers to read the map objectives in the loading screen most of the time.
Half the skins are just outright offensively bad and approaching Smite skin levels. Heroes are insanely overpriced for how much gold you get.
Sure the games are shorter, but they still manage to cram all the frustration of a 40 minute League game or a hour long dota game into those 15 minutes.

I don't care much for the shared levels system, but the build options are nice. I can see why valve copied the idea. Just wish there was more to it.

lucio is better than every other healer in the game and has made them all next to useless, at least malfurion has an AOE root i guess......

muradin is trumpde by varian, who also beats every other tank in the game because he actually has a taunt. without a taunt, and armed with the knowledge that tanks dont do shit for damage, there is no incentive to attack any other tank until you have mopped their team up, since they cannot hurt or threaten you.

alarak just got nerfed into the ground after they crippled his sadism mechanic and replaced it with the stupid 300 sec cooldown curse that removes all its benefits if you die once, in a game where there is a teamfight every 60 seconds.

tassadar is just.... well, he is worthless. he exists for you to press oracle if the enemy team has a bunch of stealthers i guess. he's complete trash otherwise.

HotS won't compete directly with League because they are two different models. HotS is more interested in the lootbox model that suckers you in by making you gain levels to get legendary loot and the games are fast enough that playing "just one more game" is feasible.

LoL right now is relying heavily on the skinnerbox model and sunk cost fallacy to keep their playerbase sticking around. The rune changes are to lower the barrier of entry just enough that the game doesn't die in the next few years.

Dota is doomed to keep hemmoraghing players if they don't make a decision abou what direction they want to go in. Arbitrary balance changes aren't working for the base anymore.
