My thoughts were that it was added because at the time you had to git gud and strafe to never lose auto attacks and they didn't add the QoL where you can now hit auto attacks from any directions until later. This QoL pretty much negates the need for the cast timing now.

To be fair, hyur fanarts are like that too. Highlanders are 2bara in most of them, people often forget that female midlanders are womanlets (just like Granblue's doraf fanart), and female characters from both tribes are far more "animu" than their original in-game face models (midlander's face 5 included). Drawing a player-made character is always more about the artist's artstyle than the original source's artstyle.
The only reason hyur fanart looks more "similar" to their 3D models is because all character-made faces in this game are actually pretty forgettable because of how camera works (except your character's face, the only one you will ever pay attention to) and humans always remind you of humans.

Yeah, you're pretty much going to be spamming Ruin 90% of the time now. Tri-Disaster means you'll only ever be hardcasting Bio and Miasma once every 2 minutes. Shadow Flare is now only once a minute. They even nerfed Ruin 3 so you don't even have to gamble with your MP for extra DPS.
