You're right, because it won't. People have been waiting for the Zwei!! II fan patch for years now, and this seems like what it's become. Xanadu Next was available in English via a fan patch for several years before XSEED released their version. And if Ilvard Insurrection isn't delayed, a summer launch will do way better for XSEED than a fall holiday one, which killed Xananext's hopes of standing out at all.

Also, everyone should try Xanadu Next. That game's still overlooked, just like Brandish: The Dark Revenant, and Zwei!! II might only escape this because of its girls and silly art/dialogue.

I don't even like NightWolve, but this sort of revisionism sucks. NW had been partially relying on donations (which were shared between NW and Deuce) from his website to defray some of his basic costs, so he had the idea of making the Felghana *beta* patch available exclusively to those who donated, then publicly available for free once the patch was completed. The trojan thing was an anti-piracy DRM he wanted to incorporate in order to make sure that only who bought the games could patch the translations.

Yes, NightWolve is crazy, but he did deserve some credit for the work he did on the projects and the scripts. Also, the fan-translator (Deuce) doesn't actually know Japanese and needs WWWJDIC for every string, hence the Translation Station NW keeps talking about. He nope'd hard at Ys Origin's fan-translation, but the XSEED release got a second check from Tom and was fixed.

I'm not sure about that one, the only thing i know is that you can get it. You need to have a character who is terrible at cooking a certain recipe do it to get "cat food". Also if you give a statue in the east district ALL food items in perfect cooking condition, which is to say, cooking with the best person suitable for the recipe, it will also give you something i think. You can also buy it and give it away and it counts i believe, if it's available for purchase.

Remember to scan every single enemy too, since that also rewards you something.

That's not so, Trails requires you put in extra effort into exploring the world, talking NPCs, doing lots of sidequests, and accepting that it loves foreshadowing things that you won't get to experience for years. It requires you to enjoy worldbuilding and lore a lot, you gotta go the extra mile to really get what the series has to offer. It takes extra effort, and it's not fair to expect everyone to need or want to put that effort in.
Just by playing the games, I doubt I'd love it as much as I do. Especially FC which many people say is slow as shit for a good few hours, even compared to other RPGs. I personally enjoyed it, but as far as I know I'm a minority even among fans of the series.
