I stay calm and friendly in team chat, I play the meta and what the team needs in their composition, I try to learn all the different heroes in quick play, I try to make the team change heroes if our current composition is getting destroyed by the enemies and I try my best at making the team group up after at least three have died.
I've only owned the game for about two weeks but I can't climb the ladder if I'm getting put in the same teams as griefers, trolls, ragers, and quitters every other game. I'm just stuck in the same place.

I am platinum, and am not even remotely good. I once teamed up with a silver player just to see what it was like. (i had dropped to mid-gold at the time)
I absolutely destroyed every game just playing roadhog. No one had any awareness. One soldier cussed me out for smurfing, even though his master strategy was to stand perfectly still and shoot me.
It was surreal. I felt like i was playing bots.

What characters are good for bronze then?
I try to do the 2-2-2 with my teams. I pick Lucio or Mercy as healers, Rein as tank, sometimes D.va. And Soldier for dps. Most of the time.

At that point you may as well just stop tryharding and fuck about. If you really want to advance, play roadhog.

What you want is a character that can heal themselves and also dish out damage and get kills. Winston is on there because you can jump pack away from fights and get a health kit

dont worry about meta until you can play with people who have more than 10% accuracy. you're in bronze, you just need to hammer down the basics. play something like 76 or mcree and just focus on hitting as many shots as you can and getting movement down. you can test out every hero in the range if you really feel like it, but try to just stick with something familiar for a while. most people are 'stuck' in these low elos because they are just impatient. also test your limits. don't be afraid of your subhuman teammates yelling at you, just go for it. pay your dues in the trench and i can almost guarantee that you will climb to gold in this season.

Got bad news for you - this is a 6v6 shooter, and you can't be carried by one person. If you were hands down the best OW player that had ever lived, and you were put on a team with 5 shitters, you would lose every game you played.

You cannot win in OW unless you and all 5 teammates are proficient with several characters and willing to instantly switch at any moment to counter an enemy hero. One shitter playing only Widow and not jumping on the objective renders your whole game pointless.

After you fix that, next thing is prioritize who to heal better. Don't tunnel into one tank (Mercy main fags are horrible at this). For instance, take note of the situation. Just because your tank is sitting at 50% and taking light damage while spamming "NEED HEALING" doesn't mean you need to panic and dump into him. Give him one and start passing out the rest to DPS in their fights (their hp drops much faster). Keep everyone alive, not just 1 impatient fag topped off 24/7.

Your best bet to getting out of Bronze is to play Roadhog. You can easily kill 3-4 of the enemy team as him.

If you shoot and hook at the same time, you can basically guarantee a kill on most characters. If they're far, press RMB+Shift, then left-click their face. If they're close, press LMB+Shift, then left-click their face. The only thing that will survive will be another tank, and even then you'll fuck them up so badly you'll be able to kill them with the third shot.

NEVER hook without a full reload, unless it's for an environmental kill (e.g. Ilios' Well)

Also at basically anything below Plat, enemy Reinhardts will basically always spam their E the second it's off cooldown. Use that opportunity to hook someone - aim for the healers - or the Rein himself if there's an environmental kill available (or if he's already taken some damage and hasn't been healed yet)

The best score placements can give you is just a little below what you ended the previous season. Usually you end up placed around a couple of hundred of points below what you ended at since you should be able to quickly climb back up to where you were, so your case seems to be unusual.
My guess is that your teams got stomped and you couldn't stay alive long enough to support them well, making the ranking system think you've gotten worse as support.
This reminds me of when season 3 came around and the developers fixed how ranks work. During season 2, too many people of low skill where being placed above their actual rank (silver and gold players were placed as platinum). I actually play ana a lot and I just press tab to check ults. If I hear gengu or roadhog ult I just press Q, and that's that. Or I use it on rein when he charges in. Usually things work out. At least in my experience.
The reason I feel voice comms aren't required is everything is telegraphed in game with a loud sound file or flashy animation. Or both. I mean I have eyes, I just do stuff. And I find it relaxing.

I find the team comms lead to more tilt-worthy bullshit than actual tactical information. The only time I have ever used it is when I play Sombra and that's just because she's damn near-useless without callouts (and that's just quick-play). Like 9/10 times it's an argument in text/voice chat. I got stuck in bronze last season. It's a fucking nightmare, worse than quickplay.

Every time I get to 1390 I get stuck with a bunch of especially retarded folks and we lose in under a minute.

How did you end up in bronze in the first place?

I play in the LA server and even with a team full of BRBR BANANA GIB MONEYZ ended up in gold, I lost 8 placement matches because of people who picked Hanzo for dive comps and lone Genjis that die every 3 minutes.

I ended up in gold the past season too, but I player the placement matches much later in the season. Maybe it's the sudden rush of new people playing placement the first day of the season that brings all the noobs and trolls together.

I climbed from Gold to Diamond last season as a solo queue Mercy main.

I found that by the time I was in Diamond I had to start playing DPS in almost all my matches if I wanted a win, as the usual "DPS mains" couldn't figure out how to shoot the enemy healers and coordinate ultimates with teammates.

My friends were awed by the fact that I was a Diamond player, as they were in low to mid Silver. I don't consider myself a very strong player, so I'm always baffled at people who are somehow in a worse ranking then myself.

I was high plat in season 2 and was low gold this season. I noticed there's a lot more people throwing/trolling from the start and a lot of people playing Orisa and not pushing or defending the point. And don't get me started on "I'll instalock genji so I can carry the team" shitters. This one guy on my team said at the beginning of the match "I have everyone muted by default because this community is toxic" and he proceeded to make stupid ass decisions and shit talk the team when we were all communicating by voice. It seems like every time I play ranked I get really high then go on a massive losing streak then I give up until next season.

The placement matches has very little effect on your where you'll be placed, you tend to placed at your SR rating from last season minus about 200 SR, so if you were in low gold last season, you'd be put in silver this season.

You do have a SR boost though as you play your first games, if you win you'll gain a lot of SR and climb back to the rating you ended on in season 4.
