Entire Akuma part of that story is so hamfisted. She saved his life so he owes her. He says he wanted to WAIT until Heihachi got stronger but all that happens is that he aged well past his prime and likely got weaker. In his youth he canonically KILLS his devil wife, the same wife that is strong enough to save the life of Akuma. He also defeats his devil son. In his older years, he has been jobbing to both his son and grandson even though he technically does beat the devil out of Kazuya in their last fight. It is still stupid that the end of Heihachi has him jobbing to Akuma during the story.
