Sadly this game isnt like that. Crafting jobs are almost all depending on one another for materials. You can level Armorer and Blacksmith but you'll still have to often buy stuff, and level mining and botany. Plus its pretty much impossible to craft max level gear without leveling all crafting jobs for their vital cross job skills.

You mean classes? You need Gladiator at level 30 and Conjurer at level 15 to unlock Paladin.
If you mean crafters/gatherers, they won't be immediately useful to your combat job. Most of the time they are their own game in XIV, but at max level (in various crafter classes) you can craft your own gear for combat jobs. It requires tons of time and money to get them to max level, so I recommend you to focus on the story quests first.

Not quite.

PLD needs to use at least 2 Sheltrons per minute(960 MP restore each) in order to afford an extra Holy Spirit or Clemency, so that they don't lose any Holy Spirits during their Req phase.

If you want to stance swap, you can do 2 Oath swaps + 1 Clemency/HS as long as you fit in 3 Sheltrons, which is only possible with some Shield Oath.

It's really very flexible and a great tank overall, budgeting your MP is very cool

It's especially bad for healers because so many of them are mandatory. Largesse (i.e. Divine Seal) is mandatory because it literally just lets you do your job better. Swiftcast is mandatory for instant raises. Lucid Dream is mandatory so you can actually heal for the entire fight (unless the MP-refreshing support abilities on other jobs can make up for it). Protect is mandatory on at least one healer in 8-man content. Esuna you can forgo for content with no debuffs, but for general play healers will usually want to take it.

That's 5 slots right there. If you manage to give up one of those slots because the content doesn't require it, or by shifting responsibility for that ability onto another player, you still really only get to choose between Cleric Stance and Eye for an Eye.

Perhaps the intention is that you can forgo Lucid Dream by bringing a BRD or MCH with Refresh and/or a BLM with Manashift. All the healers also still have minor MP-restore/conserve actions even without Lucid Dream. SCH has Aetherflow and Energy Drain, AST has Ewer, WHM has Assize and Thin Air.

But yeah, there was no need to get rid of each healer's Esunas. Should have just kept them except with a longer cast time, then made the cross-role slot Esuna II which is AoE and instant on 60-90s cooldown.

Berserk turned into a shitty version of fight or flight, upheaval is just spirits within but with costing 20 beast meter, onslaught is just a shitty version of plunge with also 20 cost on the beast meter.

Dragoon:
You get a spear and channel the power of dragons to deal damage. You have stupidly good damage output and your own armor type. The downside is that Dragoons are known to be incredibly shit due to their animations locking them into AOEs which gets them killed

Monks use fist weapons and produce decent damage but have no utility for a few more weeks. Then some of their damage will be nerfed but they can support the group more. Generally an OK job to pick.

Ninja are the biggest fucking crybabies known to man. They do good damage and currently have great utility. They have some cool looking knives too.

No one knows much about Samurai other than they're becoming the next Monk but actually do great, if not broken amounts of damage. Downside is that you're probably going to be stuck with the lolrobe meme for a while.
