I never knew Thousand Year Door had a character that has a full on emotional breakdown as an anti-cheat response. Replayed several times way back and it never occurred to me to try it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBQUB4qn280

Woah that's cool!

The first time I beat The Wind Waker I completely missed the dark portal that /v/ is always posting a webm about. I was surprised to discover that bit o' lore when you go through it. I also missed the Double Magic Meter and Hero's Charm, even though I thought I had done a thorough sweep of the entire game. To this day I don't even know how I missed the charm, and I hate that they just give it to you like that in TWWHD for doing something you had to to in the original.

>I hate that they just give it to you like that in TWWHD for doing something you had to to in the original.

Huh? You don't have to do that in the original.

In the GC version, the first half of the Savage Labyrinth gives you a Triforce Chart and the second half gives you a piece of heart. In the Wii U version, the first half gives you a Triforce Shard and the second half gives you the Hero's Charm. They probably made the change since going through all that stuff for one piece of heart felt like a really standard reward for a disproportionate amount of work.

ALttP has a lot of secrets.

The lantern will appear in Zelda's cell if you skip it, and then in Thieve's Town replacing a chest with 300 rupees.

You can skip the Moon's Tear at least temporarily. Doing this is the only way to play as Bunny Link outside of Death Mountain.

If you connect an X-Band Modem to the Super Nintendo while ALttP is on, you will unlock a secret online game you used to be able to play with others when the servers were up.

There's an invisible Ku monster in the swamp that nobody knew what it was for a long time which dies when you use Bombos before the dungeon there.

And strangest of all, in both the SNES and GBA versions of ALttP, near the Flute Boy's grove if you stand next to the counterpart tree in Light World that spits a bomb at you in Dark World, play Ether and dash into the tree, the head of Blind in his disguised maiden form will fall out and blow up. No-one knows why.
>>
>>378924256
You know, the other magic upgrade you get from using magic powder on an altar.
>>
>>378924661
You're confused. That is the double magic meter upgrade. There is no other.
>>
I loved finding animal crossings weird secrets as a kid. Never knew about the ghost until years later
>>
In Vice City, if you press either left or right and the jump button right before a speeding car is about to hit you, you can do the same dive animation the NPC's do when you're trying to run them over. Discovered this during when I was going on a personal rampage and tried to jump out the way of a cop car that was about to mow me down

>>378924962

Apparently Shadow in the Sonic games was made as a sort of guinea pig to come up with a cure for Maria who was apparently terminal, but I'd never picked up on any of that.
>>
>>378919432
Not really a feature but a glitch I found as a kid that no one really seemed to know about. It is in FF8 when the you are driving the car to Balamb for the Dollet mission. When you enter the town and the car starts auto driving holding down the left analog stick(and I think left d pad button) will cause the car to go sliding through the next area sideways.

It is a small stupid thing but it gave me a chuckle as a kid.

In Phantom Hourglass there's a part where Linebeck gets trapped by some spikes and you have to raise them to move on. If you use a moonjump cheat to get over to him he says "How did you get this far, anyway?" There's literally no reason for him to have any special dialogue for it

In Donkey Kong 64, I never knew you could hold the Z-button while zoomed in with the gun and it will slow down the sensitivity dramatically to help you line up shots...which would have really come in handy considering how much precision shooting that game makes you do.

Wearing the Captain's Mask against King Ikana will make him think he's you until he says you're too small.

You can heal broken signs with the Song of Healing.

You can use Song of Storms to instantly finish up beans.

The guards at Pirate's Fortress have worse vision at night.

You can kill Sakon, but ruin Anju and Kafei's sidequest.

You can find the swordsman, alone, scared, not wanting to die.

Wearing Kafei's mask near Anju's mother will piss her off.

On the final day, if you never talk to the guards before, you get asked if the carnival is cancelled and if there's an evacuation order.

You can talk to dogs while wearing the Mask of Truth.

The woman at the treasure chest thing will say you're pretty if wearing the Great Fairy Mask, say you're good at deliveries if you wear the Postman's Hat, and will say you have collected a lot of hats if you wear the All-Night Mask.
