They never actually changed stance, they were planning the "Netflix of classic games" thing from the start but pretended they were doing something far worse in order to get people to imagine the worst case scenario. If you wanted KF2 or LiS you should have already owned them though. Those are both games that the majority of people wouldn't like, especially the "no real gameplay" LiS. Nobody has ever legally owned "Balloon Fight with online gameplay" though. Don't forget PS+ only gives out shit they have a good reason to: KF2 has DLC you don't get with PS+, and LiS has a sequel announced. Nintendo's games might not be brand new AAA titles, but at least they're complete games (with added online).

Of course you have to consider one costs $60 and one costs $20 for the year. What do you assume the online costs? $10? In that case you're paying $10 for Nintendo's option or $50 for PS+ games, so the PS+ games better damn well be worth more.

Don't know yet. Arms was not at all what I was looking for, and Mario Kart is mostly a local thing for me. Splatoon 2 needs some quality of life changes to hook me. They reduced map rotation time, but it's still two hours of the same two maps, that's horrendous. Say what you want about the PC community, but they got shit done when valve tried to jew people with paid mods. They created such a stink that Valve and Bethesda canceled that shit along with an apology to the modding community.

However, I can't say the same to the console community. Paid online has now become the standard for all three consoles, and, instead to being pissed, all I see is that x amount of dollars is nothing or how the "free" games are worth it. The console community just gave in to it with out even putting up a fight, like they wanted to give money to these corporations just to use the online for a game that they already bought.

ARMS seems to have solid online, but Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was pretty fucked at first (not sure if they fixed it yet). If anything, at least it's not 60 dollars a year. The real interest I have is in that classic game catalog or whatever the fuck they're calling it now. Really, it's just VC with online.

Overwatch has no player input for maps either and still changes every single game. Now, having the exact same kind of random rotation wouldn't work for Splatoon, because the loadout you pick could be map-dependent, and you're locked into it for the whole game.

However, just giving us a couple extra seconds to pick a loadout for the new map isn't very demanding for developers to implement, and keeps things fresh with constantly rotating maps rather than sticking us on the same one over and over. Yes, it very well could be the same ONE, because the two available maps don't even have the quality of life to switch back and forth every match. You could be stuck on Arowana Mall four games in a row.
