The problem is that you can't say a game had good points while being flawed or had bad points while being overall good anymore, it's just too easy to say everything is either 10/10 GOTYAY or 0/10 shit forever ruined the series. People just divide themselves into wanting to come across as hardcore oldfags who hate everything new, or people who lash out at the oldfags.

Example being Geneology has great story but is pretty fucking easy. Conquest has good maps and personally I like the revamped weapon system, but its story is abysmal. I still like both of them though, they're both solid additions to the series.

I like Echoes too but the attitude that it's automatically better than Fates in every way is silly. Both games have their strong points. Echoes is a pretty good remake, did well with its story and its mechanics are interesting, but it still has a lot of Gaiden's awful maps.

It's ok to be fans of most of the games in the series and understand that none of them are truly perfect. I think you can name a couple significant flaws with every entry, usually either with its story or its gameplay. 5 and 9 are bretty damn good though.

Oversaturation and the rampant trend towards waves of paid DLC is a huge turn off. On the other, less offensive side of the coin where a single game was given a proper cycle as a swan song, you get Awakening, which isn't much of anything.

The thing I really liked about Fates was the prisoner system. Even if most of the units you get out of it end up worse than the real deal, I always loved the concept of talking it over with enemies and getting them to join your cause.

Say what you will about Fates, but there is one aspect of it that I thought was the best shit to hit the franchise in awhile.

My Castle was comfy as fuck and don't even try to say it wasn't. Yes, it was immerssion breaking and plot ignoring in some regards, but I feel like if they fine tuned it enough, it could be a very welcome mainstay feature of the series.

Off yourself. Games are more than the sum of their parts. The stories, settings, character interactions, as well as the gameplay all make Fire Emblem what it is. I'm supposed to just to be happy when only one aspect of that is right?

If we're going to play the food analogy game, then old FE is a good steak meal with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. Not a 5 star restaurant steak meal, but a pretty good steak meal. Good texture, good flavor, the sides are enjoyable and compliment the meal, with a nice glass of iced tea. Awakening is all that but not as good, it's a bit more bland. Conquest has great steak seasoning that rivals and arguably outdoes the old steak, but that's it it's literally just steak seasoning, not even a good steak. The mashed potatoes are instant and the broccoli is flimsy, and the iced tea is sweet tea except half of it is sugar.

Conquest is just the current gen equivalent of Radiant Dawn, a great Fire Emblem that gets shit on undeservedly by storyfags who are playing the wrong series. If you want SRPGs with good story, you can play Matsuno's games or some of NISA's older games. Fire Emblem is not that kind of game regardless of what Genealogy/PoRfags think.

I've been meaning to try FFT and Tactics Ogre, but a lot of games I've really enjoyed have been coming out this year and I prefer to play games while they're fresh and easier to discuss with my friends.

She constantly switches from duty-bound prude to whiny teen and both personalities are written horribly.
