I quite like XX even if I can never understand what the fuck I'm being told half the time. I get friend requests so maybe I'm doing SOMETHING right. And styles make bow really fun, emphasizing the whole "dodge or get sneezed on and die" aspect of being a gunner

Go for it. At worst you'll play for an hour and give up because of the tutorial, but at best you'll sink 100+ hours at the very least on hunting goodness. 7 dollars is a week's worth of noodles so I don't see why not
