Dragon Quest 2. Beginning is really grindy but once you get to Lianport the game opens up and it doesn't feel like a grind.

Morrowind is fucking torture while your Speed / Endurance is low and you don't have at least around 45 in a weapon skill.

FF7. You're stuck in Midgar for like 6-7 hours. Most people that hate the game never even made it out of Midgar, which is nothing but the prologue of the game.

Welcome to a 2 hour intro that drops you straight into the motherfucking deep end of combat and lore, where the only guaranteed "tutorial" demon can still fucking kill you and you don't really know shit about the plot until you've beat the game's version of Matador.

Why were Federation suits so goddamn OP in that game? Guncannon shows up piloted by was it Amuro(?) and immediately wrecks everything. I guess they were trying to stay true to Gundam Rising's story with how bullshit White Base's mobile suits are.

Yeah, I can't understand what they were thinking there. Claustrophobic street corridors with a small amount of slow-moving enemies is just a recipe for boredom in a game like that, doesn't even feel like Serious Sam before you leave the city.

Most JRPGs. The plot usually doesn't take off until later and character development doesn't really offer any options in the beginning, which means that practically all fights boil down to spamming basic attacks and potions, maybe some low-level spells.

I've never played it, but I hear Final Fantasy 12 (or was it 13?) is like this. Taking an incredibly long time for it to get good
