ITT: Games that only get good after a few hours
the entire 1st chapter and a little bit of the 2nd chapter are boring as fuck
>>378897415
is it?? I just started and only now just got to town and i'm really struggling to stay interested. I loved the first one but i'm dragging my feet.
>>378897338
Serious Sam 3. The first few stages are trash, but it slowly develops into good old traditional SS gameplay.
Mario and Luigi: Dream team
if it isn't good instantly I'm not gonna bother a second more than necessary
Nier automata, 20 hours
Persona 5, in the end so after fucking 80 hours
Steins gate, after chapter 5 the game really begins
>>378897514once you meet raven which is
around episode 7/8 is when the game gets interesting.
>>378897661
when does it start to pick up? want to play it but this intro is too fuckin long
>>378897338
Is she /ourgirl/?
Dragon Quest 2. Beginning is really grindy but once you get to Lianport the game opens up and it doesn't feel like a grind.

>>378897338
>eyebrow styling
This actually makes a little me mad
>>378899158
You don't style your brows?
>>378899158
>not styling your eyebrows
Wanna know how I know you're gay?
>>378898041
that's sad actually
>>378900109
marilyn pls
I bet a lot of metroidvanias would fit this. A few hours in, you usually have 2-3 different methods of attacking, and a small bit of mobility--usually a double jump.
>>378898007
Around about the time you get to the dreamy version of Dozing Sands
>>378897415
>>378897514
The whole game sucks. I don't care that they made gameplay "slightly" better.
1 is the better game.
>>378897578
What part? I dropped it long ago because the way you exhaust dialogue in the game is very boring and unengaging.
Also, should I play my PS3 versions or find 360 copies?
>>378897613
O this.
It's a fucking bore while you only have the pistol and the AR.
>>378897338
And sex only gets good after you've done it a few times.
Just how life goes sometimes.
>>378902476
The game starts to be exciting once you reach Virmire.
Morrowind is fucking torture while your Speed / Endurance is low and you don't have at least around 45 in a weapon skill.
>>378898041
liz pls
Hollow Knight
I think all the persona games take a bit of getting into.
>>378906905
I've never played any :^)
>>378907669
Shame, they're pretty good.
FF7. You're stuck in Midgar for like 6-7 hours. Most people that hate the game never even made it out of Midgar, which is nothing but the prologue of the game.
>>378906905
>>378907873
You aint seen shit
Welcome to a 2 hour intro that drops you straight into the motherfucking deep end of combat and lore, where the only guaranteed "tutorial" demon can still fucking kill you and you don't really know shit about the plot until you've beat the game's version of Matador.
>>378897338
>First few missions
>Pilot GMs and Zakus with weak machine guns and papier-mache armor
>Later missions
>Pilot fucking GM Strikers and Goufs
>Endgame missions
>GUNDAM AND KAMPFER
Definitely Mass Effect Andromeda. It gets good about 30 hours in.
>>378897338
persona 4
>>378909682
End game missions were fun, but still weren't that great. I was very disappointed that Crossfire wasn't updated Zeonic Front.
Soma
>>378910384
>tfw never finished the extra-hard version of the final Zeon mission on Very Hard because (1) the supply points always glitched out or (2) the camping respawning Guntanks sniped me from halfway across the map
>>378909509
not that guy but
difficult/complicated not always = fun/good
>>378910564
>Guntanks
Why were Federation suits so goddamn OP in that game? Guncannon shows up piloted by was it Amuro(?) and immediately wrecks everything. I guess they were trying to stay true to Gundam Rising's story with how bullshit White Base's mobile suits are.
>>378899158
best monster hunter game rite there.. though the last one i played was MH Tri
>>378897613
Yeah, I can't understand what they were thinking there. Claustrophobic street corridors with a small amount of slow-moving enemies is just a recipe for boredom in a game like that, doesn't even feel like Serious Sam before you leave the city.
>>378909857
no it doesn't
Most JRPGs. The plot usually doesn't take off until later and character development doesn't really offer any options in the beginning, which means that practically all fights boil down to spamming basic attacks and potions, maybe some low-level spells.
>>378910687
SMT IV's intro is god awful, but when you soldier through it, you find the rest of the game is excellent.
I've never played it, but I hear Final Fantasy 12 (or was it 13?) is like this. Taking an incredibly long time for it to get good
>>378911775
i agree
>>378912353
13 never gets truly good, but it takes something like 20-30 hours to become OK. It's ridiculous.
