It was literally made with friendless NEETs in mind

On the surface it seems like a boring life sim, but the game mostly delivers in it's charm & polish, something Nintendo is well-known for.
It's pretty fucking comfy once you get into it - and that's what makes it addicting.
I hope it comes out for the Nintendo Switch - being able to switch from portable to docked mode would be amazing for Animal Crossing.

I never thought I'd play a sim, but I got New Leaf on my 3DS back in 2014 I think and I played it consistently for a year and a half. I found it solid fun, I don't know why.

What makes it great is how dependent it is to real life. Everyone happens right there and then, every villagers have their routines, there are holidays,different events happens during the week etc. Heck, it's so dependent on time that every hour of the day has a different song. It makes AC feel like a real world that you can go and visit from time to time.

A part of the appeal is, that Animal Crossing works in real time and real-date. When it's 6:00 in the morning irl, it's 6:00 in your town. The seasons change, holidays like christmas are celebrated, plants grow over time. It's the perfect game to spend maximum an hour per day on or keep it running on your TV in the background, while doing something else.

It's a cute game with little animals and a jew landlord that will never ever stop asking for more money.

I've never played the new ones but the DS one had this dog that would come on a specific day of the week and would star playing the guitar. Really comfy shit.
