So I've been practicing backdash cancelling and I can do the shortcut one (QCB, B) but I'm not sure when to actually use it in a fight; the same sort of rings true for sidewalking as I have no idea if the enemy is gonna use a tracking move or not. I know movement is the big thing in Tekken so I really want to improve.

If Heihachi's plan was to see if Lars would have the devil gene, why didn't he keep track of him after his birth and decide to just forget about him?

yeah the technique is hard, and implementation is perhaps even harder.

until you know all the matchups and such, try using them as a general adjustment in matches. for instance if your opponent is really aggressive using longer range, linear strings, start sidewalking more in the midrange. now they have to use a new approach.

i heard Lars is easy and an all-rounder. personally i like simpler characters and i've been playing Asuka, Chloe, Eliza, who fit that bill too.

however the hard part of tekken is mostly movement and recognizing situations/strings/frame advantage, which is universal to every character. its also balanced so "low tier" characters will still fuck you up. so you should play who you like, since you are going to have to put a lot of time into them, as well as learning what every character in the game is gonna do to to you.

i think because the match list doesn't populate in real time, and takes fucking ages to display, the match is already gone from 1,000 other people trying to connect to it, which is why there is so much "connection lost". thats what it seems like anyway.

Doing all that shit in an actual match is horror. BnBs i can land on a dumb whiff punish or something. But even attempting to use the advanced movement in a match is a clear ticket to me getting my shit pushed in.

yeah its natural. when you practice KBD you are just doing KBD, but in a match you are doing KBD whilst also watching your opponent and trying to be ready to suddenly d+2, or duck, or a tech a throw, or press 4, or whatever is needed.

try to work some in systematically, like make a decision to do a low poke, back dash twice, and see if they whiff something.
