Because most of their IPs certian around a fun idea rather than a story to drive that game.
Fun is always the first and sometimes only goal.

This means a lot of mature themes are ignored but luckily Nintendo has become more willing in recent years to adopt them and embrace them in a way that shows they'll actually one of the best people in the industry to it.
