just take a look at any archived thread about the game, youll see why.
TL;DR its nothing like a shooter from 1996 and its the worst Rouge-Lite shooter in the market.

Strafe is a fine game. I don't really know why people seem to dislike it so much.

I've played about 15 hrs and beat the game three times.

It's pretty good, thankfully they patched out a lot of the crap and it plays quite well.

The issue is that it's more of a 'survival' FPS than a fast-paced one, at least for the first level. It gets faster as the game goes on but if you play it like a 90's shooter to begin with then you'll just die.

The marketing understandably led people to believe it was that type of game so most new players would end up dying repeatedly.

I personally like it for what it is, but it was very easy to mistake for what it isn't.

That depends entirely on how good you are. You can most definitely strafe jump around and kill enemies as you whizz past them, but you have to be a good shot and have very good spatial awareness as to not get cornered or hit from behind.

The only real complaint I have for the game is that it's a roguelite without the incentives of one. You do not unlock new items or weapons for your runs to come, which leads to the game becoming monotonous pretty quickly.

ziggurat is still the best and you can pick it up for like 2 bucks
