It's the worse, in a lot of ways.
>Unilaterally worse weapon movesets in the entire series. Rapiers and ultra greatswords lose basically every good move they had from DeS, katanas, falchions, halberds, etc all become strictly worse. The only good weapons are those with infinites or those with resetting frametrap spam.
>Poise, easily the worst mechanic in the series. Just stand in fire and smash R1. Completely annihilates the balance of spacing, timing, and punishing from Demon's Souls and replaces gameplay with min-max build shit that allow you to completely ignore game mechanics. Also made the BS system more degenerate too. On top of that, adds no actual dimension or additional decision making to making a build (the one thing it was supposed to do) -- you simply folloe the formula; stack poise as high as possible while maintaining fastest roll.
>Enemies and bosses are extremely primitive compared to later games. Enemies really suffer, and are completely helpless compared to the enemies in BB.
>Ranged and shields are utterly broken.
>OST is full of sampled instruments and just isn't very good aside from a couple stand-out tracks.
>Quite a few incomplete or simply poor quality areas (Izalith, Demon Ruins, Valley of the Drakes, Crystal Caves, Great Hollow, Ash Lake, etc).
