is now a good time to buy one?

No
First
>buying any console at launch
Second
>no games until 2018
Third
>Nintendo will pull some bullshit and release a New Switch or Switch XL or something
Good luck finding one

>Nintendo's big enough so that you don't have to worry about supporting them. As a consumer, look for the best deals on high-end goods.
>There are few games out for this new console that aren't ports. By all means, buy the Switch if an exclusive comes out that you really want to play. If not, wait for the library to flesh out. FOMO is how they get your money, anon. Don't fall for it.
>Most likely. I still feel dumb for picking up the original ads on launch, and there'll always be a deluxe or recolor later. If it comes too late in the life cycle though, refer to the first point on waiting for discounts or special sales to pick one up. Let the masses playtest for you, let them iron out the kinks so you can swoop in and pick up the "completed, true" console.

Should you buy a Switch? Let's examine some common situations:
>I own a Wii U
Don't buy a Switch.
>I don't own a Wii U
Buy a Wii U and hack it. Don't buy a Switch.
>I own a Wii U but it's on the other side of the planet, I want to play BotW NOW and Cemu just isn't stable enough
Buy a Switch, or have some fucking patience and wait.
>I have shitloads of disposable income
Then why even ask?I'm #3. I'm happy with my Switch, but I wouldn't recommend it to most people yet.
Bonus:
>I want to play an FPS on the Switch
See pic.

I would wait for the next model
I bought one 2 days ago and fuck no.
Every game is ludicrously overpriced.
Unless you haven't played Zelda or Mario kart 8 before it's not worth getting.
I'd wait a little bit. Arms, Splatoon, Mario, and Xenoblade all come out this year, so I would recommend getting one in the coming months if a few of those seem appealing.

wait for it to get discontinued

>By all means, buy the X if an exclusive comes out that you really want to play.
This should be followed with everything. I always buy a console or new PC hardware or whatever when there is a single game that is good enough to warrant a buy. This is why I didn't buy the WiiU. But I DID buy a Switch for BoTW and it was worth it for me.
The worst thing you can do is buy a console in anticipation of future games or buy a consoles for games you have slight interest in thinking. "Hmm it has ~10 games where I'm slightly interested in" This never works out and doesn't justify your purchase. I made this mistake by buying a 3DS for a lot of games I was just slightly interested in. Even though hacked my 3DS I didn't even bother finishing any of the downloaded games due to this. Big waste of money.
Quaker Oats chewey bars are having a contest to win them, try that.

>Unless you haven't played Zelda or Mario kart 8 before it's not worth getting
You realize this is everyone right? Thus implying it's always worth it to buy a Switch.
>>378851341
Are you implying millions of people and the majority of /v/ didn't play BOTW and MK8?
>>378849683
It doesn't have a lot of games.
You decide, OP.

>asking less than two weeks before E3
Ask after E3.
>>378849683
I dunno if this is the greatest advice but I think you should wait until e3 and go from there. That's what I'm doing anyway. If the lineup is (somehow) still shit I'm not gonna buy it.
>>378849683
Buy it if YOU would like to play like 4-5 games from it.

Nintendo has never done upgrade versions for home consoles. If anything, downgrades like the Wii Mini right before they move to the next thing.
