The difference with Siege is that the playerbase has been strong for the past year without this loot incentive because somehow someone in that Ubisoft shithole of a company actually managed to make a great game. I've been looking for a shooter with a high skill ceiling that I can pour hours into just learning new things and improving since Overwatch disappointed me. Siege is that game for me. I play because the base game is actually interesting and there's so much room to grow and creative things to try. These loot packs are unnecessary, though I don't mind the way they're implementing them where it doesn't look like a cash grab but instead just an extra reward for playing the game. Though I personally haven't paid attention to the cosmetics in the game and I don't think that's going to change when they add these.

I'd say Siege is somewhat of an exception since it's so heavily based on rounds and fixed team compositions, but yeah community dedicated servers are gone now since every game tries to have in that bullshit currency/experience/leveling thing so they can charge you somewhere to skip the grind

But what really makes me sad about the state of the game is the interface, it's like Ubisoft has some important design guidelines that make all their games have terrible clunky menus and shit that just makes it so annoying to even get inside a game
