>>
>>378844412
anyway, retards aside, was the point of the game that even though machines and androids were basically the same the androids fell for the semantics meme and thought they were right in killing the machines right? a commentary on how humans kill one another for petty differences even though we're the same. then again the machine network had the loli virus so it's not like they were going to stop either except for pascal and the others outside the network.

also the game makes the point that any AI will always strive to become human no matter what.
>>
>>378862498
It's one of the points. Another is that both machines and androids are thrown into an empty world devoid of any culture or reasons to live, and they cope with being unable to create new values for themselves.

Main characters go against it because the force driving them is their love for each other that starts gradually changing even their Pods, who gain self-consciousness in the end as well.
>>
>>378862498
Androids and machines are not the same, only YoRHa androids use machine cores. Also, Pascal and the others who were supposedly disconnected never actually were, it was an experiment by the network to see how machines would react with a semblance of free will. The reason why the machines act the way they do is because the network realizes that they have no ultimate purpose if they ever win the war, and are scrambling to try and find a meaning for life

The game has some details that a lot of people seem to miss
>>
>>378862498
For me the biggest point was the question: is there meaning in your actions even when they are ultimately futile?
>>
>>378862957
>Androids and machines are not the same
There's no functional difference between any machine life save for black box/machine core which is just a high-end memory storage and fusion reactor.
Androids are just as capable of being networked, they prefer not to.
>>
>>378862709
I don't know if they had no reasons to live. There's that sidequest where some resistance member adopts a Yorha unit to have as some kind of surrogate family.

The androids of Automata are far too well developed, overly similar to humans if you may, how they have emotions and shit, and this fact goes against the whole Yorha charade that androids need something to live for. What about the units who defected? They looked fairly "normal" and just surviving. Same for A2. I don't know, the whole goal of the Yorha project seems to underestimate how advanced the androids of the game's world really are. They don't look helpless or desperate if they're not told what to do
>>
>>378862957
>Androids and machines are not the same, only YoRHa androids use machine cores
yeah but 9S says the "circuitry" is the same, basically. black boxes are just slightly more complex machine cores.

I guess I missed that about Pascal and his crew, though makes sense cause I was wondering why his villagers went berserk.
>>
>>378845225
>good
>whacky jap design
choose one and only one
>>
>>378863232
YoRHa androids are the pinnacle of individual machine life, pretty much. A lot of other androids are probably way dumber and need someone to give them a reason to live. Or at least they think they do.
>>
>>378863197
Why does it matter that they're both mechanical?
>>
>>378863197
Not really talking about the way they're made, but the way they function. Androids are made with an innate love for humanity, while machines just have an fascination with them. Also, androids, most notably 2B and 9S, are capable of fundamentally evolving on what they are supposed to be, while machines never learn i.e. if they make a dictatorship for their new government and that government fails, instead of changing they'll just install a new government
>>
>>378863232
>Same for A2.
to be fair going on a never ending quest to kill every machine for personal revenge isn't exactly doing okay in life and having a nice purpose.

>>378863182
for me it was more like this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRDBmteHXlA

machines trying to cope with shitty creators or creators that weren't around anymore to give them purpose. and then the purpose the machines do arrive at are as silly as the ones humans arrive at
>>
>>378863530
>while machines never learn
That was only because of N2 who limited their development.
If you look at the timeline, 500 years after the events of Automata machines form a caste society that ends with civil war inside, so they are actually evolving on their own. Peace faction also signs a peace treaty with androids.
>>
>>378844629
kek did you complete the game
>>
>>378863614
>and then the purpose the machines do arrive at are as silly as the ones humans arrive at
I think that just plays into the idea I stated - cyclical failure.

Yes, concert script.
Whole project YoRHa was designed by two androids, and one killed another, perfecting the plan in the process. It was automated to be carried by the Pods. There's a Pod 006 on the Moon in charge of moon server, for example.
>>
>>378865181
There's quite a lot actually. Nothing really substantial to understand the game though
>>
>>378863985
yeah but the actions of humans aren't ultimately futile. most humans can accomplish most of the goals they set for themselves, either in their generation or the next.

Playing through Route B, he was racking up the bodycount while talking calmly with 2B. Is he humble or a psycho?
>>
>>378865596
Yes, he's a legit psychopath. But 2B stabilizes him.
The most adorable part of route B is a very beginning when he's being cute with 2B who looks at the birds inside the Factory while he's destroying probably entire Factory defence forces.
>>
>>378863985
Humans are different, as we have a finite lifespan, which makes every moment of our lives more special in what we choose to do. Machines and Androids are practically immortal, the only thing that seems to keep androids from going crazy is having someone or a group to take care of and love. Just look at what happens to Emil after living for so long although he does say that even if it's pointless, you still have to do it

Thought this was a really a nice touch. Although the game isn't very visually appealing, there are a lot of small details that easily makes up for it
>>
Why is normal mode so incredibly easy in this game but the hard mode is actually too hard? Some big enemies' hits with the same level as you will oneshot you from full health even with the maximum +100% health chips.
In normal small enemies will hit you for about 10-20% of my health per hit. In hard that amount gets more than doubled, to about 40-50%.

Wish there was a semi-hard mode because normal is just a faceroll and hard is just frustrating because of the oneshots (especially in C route where dying gives you a game over)

What if your kids grow up to be failures? Was it still worth it to have children? What if the end of a relationship leaves you more distressed than you were before entering into it? Was it worth it to start the relationship? What if you lead a political party into power to improve your polity, only to have your policies achieve the opposite effect? Was it a good thing you ever ran the election in the first place?

Is the journey worth the destination when the destination is so fucked?

Death does not make life more meaningful. That's nonsense mortals peddle out to try and make peace with it. What makes life special is what YOU make of it. If you are eternal, or but a drop in the rain, YOU make it worth existing or not. So says the one from BEYOND!

our minds are made with an end in mind. We literally cannot even imagine what a brain that is meant to live forever, thus in fiction we imagine our brains living forever, the result being a being who goes crazy over a lifetime of heartaches stacked on top of one another for time neverending

Hard mode is fine, apart from the mech sections. It doesn't help that stray bullets can kill you during cutscenes. Doing the Grun boss fight, there can be an absurd amount of bullets that can fuck you up in 1-2 hits. Had to dial it back down to normal.

Basically balance is kinda screwed in the game either way.
>>
>>378868392
Well yeah, that was the game's conclusion. It asks the question in C/D and gives its opinion in E. The question stands as something for the player to answer for his/herself.

Doing the last area with this playing is fantastic. The Tower never gets mentioned.

If that is the way of the finite then they should seek to unhinder themselves. I don't see how it is any difficulty to imagine a mind that only grows more. Evolves, changes. It's like some strange god in their minds throwing them into the abyss.

That's your opinion my man. I'm sure some people have regrets about the failures in their life and rather they had done something else.

In reality it's not like things are absolutist, you're not going to 100% regret or 100% accept every failed action.

that screenshot is disgusting, did you play this on a toaster?

Pascal's eyebulbs are blue
Pascal's eyes glowed green
What color would Pascal's eyes glow to make the color green if his bulbs were blue?

Yellow
He was never disconnected

You can shoot out of dodge too which is very satisfying since it's basically like a shotgun

Why'd they hire some girl with such a qt voice for a male robot?
>>
I tought the whole YoRHa thing looked quite like a fascists organization, a little militarized group with some fancy symbols, the discourses that happened, the glory to mankind salute, and then taro puts nazi helmets on the YoRHa units
>>
>>378870949
Pascal is actually one of a few truly disconnected machines, he was never influenced by the network. Entire experiment was testing the limits of his pacifism and results of it.

How do you even need all those healing items on normal? I played this game on hard and I do think that retarded part in route C was annoying as hell but that was only because almost everything 2-shot me. On normal, this entire game should be piss easy.

Not everyone is as good as you at video games.
>>
>>378872418
Except I'm not even good at these games. The amount of damage enemies do on normal is pitiful and if you have auto-heal chips, you literally just need to run around for a bit till you get healed completely.
>>
>>378848196

People are strangely bad at things in this game and I really don't get it. Aside from occasionally getting trapped in a corner and stunlocked which is remedied by the chip that turns you invincible on contact anyway this is the easiest Platinum game I've played since their days as Clover making Okami. It gives you every opportunity to stave off death. Wanna be bad at dodging? Fine auto-heal+Max HP Up x9. Wanna be a cheap ass an attack everything from a distance? Ranged Attack Up x9 and Ranged Def Up x9. Still Sucking? Get some items to boost stats a further 50%. It's not a hard game by any stretch.

Also basically how to tell a weeb from somebody that picked it up cause the gameplay looked cool.
>>
Why is 2B so surpised to see the machines in the desert talking, and the rockets heading to space? Am I supposed to believe she has never met a talking machine before or the rockets?
>>
>>378872847
The game on normal isn't hard at all. It's probably the easiest game Platinum's made. The only thing I found hard about this game was route C on hard difficulty. I'm sure my chips were garbage and I could've done better to make it easier but route C just frustrated me to no end because it didn't even feel like fair difficulty. The game just sent massive amounts of enemies towards you and I could barely tank one hit against some of the later game enemies. If I didn't use the item boosts then I was more or less fucked in most fights.

My worst experience was in one of the final towers and I was about halfway up the tower and an enemy just oneshots me from my blindside. I just felt route C on hard was not well-balanced at all.

She's a combat unit and quite anti-social on top of that, not a recon unit.
As far as her knowledge about the world goes, she's like a little baby compared to 9S.

Shantae games don't have fanservice as their top priority. Fun characters are their top priority.

But shes been alive and walking around since fucking forever
Not once has she even heard mentioning of an intelligent machine?
>>
>>378872614
>Except I'm not even good at these games.
If you beat the game on Hard, you are better than the average player. I'm not saying Normal isn't fairly easy, I'm just saying that there are many people that really, really aren't good at games.
>>
>>378874028
>But shes been alive and walking around since fucking forever
She's alive only for 3 years, and spent most of them fighting machines.
>>
>>378850642
No, Route A ends at the end of chapter 10.

There are 17 chapters.

The intro splash screen doesn't even begin until you start chapter 11. You didn't even beat the prologue desu.

Revengeance was the only other Platinum game I had played, and I remembered that I liked it and have respect for them as a developer. So I knew the gameplay would be good.

I saw 2Booty on 4chan and that's how I heard about the game, so I decided to go for it for the Platinum combat and the booty.

I fell in love with the game. It's my current GOTY, and it ranks very high on my list of favorite games in the past few years.

Way better than I expected.
>>
>>378874164
...and during those 3 YEARS not once saw a single machine capable of speaking?

They really needed to polish the alternate camera segments more.
That one boss fight in the jihad bot factory was hellish because the boss could attack you while the camera was transitioning.

Funny they were my second favorite part of the game.
>>
>>378874460
Remember, majority of machines connected to the network do not speak. The area we see in the game is unique because it houses multiple communities of disconnected machines.
