The visuals for this honestly don't seem that great. I'm not even sure it looks as nice as 3U for the Wii U. Then again, everything about X / Generations has seemed pretty lazy and slapdash by the series' standards and I doubt this is an exception. Honestly I would have rather had 4U on Switch rather than this.

Most of all I hope they're working on something for Switch that'll be built from the ground up and isn't just nicer textures and effects slapped on assets made for handhelds.

MHXX has much higher resolution textures, shadows, and lighting compared to 3U.
There are some things that make it seem lazy though like how they just blew up the HUD where as 3U had a nice HD HUD for it.

Without a major overhaul that would risk alienating the fans that turned Monster Hunter into Capcom's biggest cash cow, the series is super niche and doesn't appeal to Western mainstream gamers. The PS4 and PC have no real appeal in Japan, as they're all about that portable life. Therefore, making a PS4/PC version and spending extra resources, making 4k assets, and wasting server bandwidth on it isn't really viable for them. It's a waste of cash, as the vast majority of their target demographic will want to purchase the game on a handheld.

If anything, we'd be more likely to get a Switch/Smartphone game before we get a Switch/PS4/PC Monster Hunter game.

It's not a company wars things, hell I'd buy a PS4 Monster Hunter game in a heartbeat. It's just super, super unlikely. If Sony had a handheld this generation it would be a viable home for a new Monster Hunter. Unfornately though, given the failure of the Vita, that's not likely to happen any time soon.
