I've been wondering this for a while. In Fallout 3 and NV, disabling a landmine is just a vague skill-check. The higher your explosive skill the longer it'll beep before it explodes. Right? But I was wondering, what if it was a minigame? Like hacking or lockpicking.
Hypothetically, if it was a minigame, what would you want from that interaction? I have like two and a half ideas.
>yet another boring minigame that gets stale by the third time you do it to constantly break up gameplay and make playing it even more of a chore

>quickly unscrewing the fuse before it detonates
>unscrewing it too much out or too fast will cause the mine to explode.

How is this even a question.

So you like playing games where you just up to a thing and tap a button?
>>378830629
But what part of that would be SKILL-based? Like, the "sweet spot" in lockpicking is bigger the higher your skill, and the higher your skill with hacking, there are fewer words to pick.

Oh fuck. Timed Mine Sweeper...

Is it even a minigame?
It's more of just a mechanic of how mines work.
Problem with actually turning it into a minigame though, is the frequency of mines. It's not too rare to come across 4+ mines (some times in excess of 15) in a small area, and no one wants to do the same mini-game over and over again all in a row.

I like gameplay to be seamless. Instead of making landmines become a tedious, time wasting minigame with little to no payoff or reward for effort and time invested, either make landmines incredibly lethal or get rid of the minigame idea altogether.

That's fair. Unless you were really up your own ass with ROLEPLAYING, like, you want to be a bomb disposal guy, so that'd be your thing. But I can see that being tedious really fast, framed in that way.
I feel like Mines are very uninteresting. It's like a wasted skill, because even at 15 they beep long enough to run at them and tap the action button.

Call of Duty W@W on DS has a cool mine diabling minigame, and the morse code one.
The landmine has some sort of button in the middle and I think that's what disarms it

YES. That's exactly the minigame I was thinking of as soon as I saw this thread. Couldn't remember the game though. Very satisfying game.

t. retard who doesn't even try at the hacking game.
>>378831808
You're the retard if you have to "try" to do the hacking game. It's infantile with its simplicity.
How do you defuse irl landmines?
>>378832020
Throw rocks at them.
>>378832020
detonate them from a safe distance
There should be a door-opening minigame, too.
>>378833186
in a game where you play as a dog
>>378833186
There should also be magazine loading minigames.
