Why did the VR meme fail?
>>
because I fucked your nostril
>>
>>378822535
because people just want to relax on the couch and chill while playing vidya

they don't want to have to strap anything to their head, rearrange their living rooms so they don't bump into shit, and get a headache after 30 minutes
>>
>>378822535
Because it's not 2028 yet.
>>
money
it costs like $700 to play a couple games.

Because the price drop hasn't happened and the nogames meme is still true. Personally i think E3 this year is going to have at least a few AAA VR titles.
>>
you mean normal people don't want a $500 dork helmet that makes them throw up?

incredible
>>
It didn't

PSVR is actually doing alright. Hope Occulus and Vive are too. Things are just getting started, but RE7 and DIRT in VR is superior vidya experience.
>>
>>378822535
because fatass cali hipsters like jeff gerstmann are pretentious snobbs who want to be constantly paid big ad revenue from publishers

second the ad money dried up they shat all over it

>PSVR is actually doing alright
I hear farpoint is great, really like the aim controller and it adds the potential for games like destiny in VR.

Vive sales are better than occulus right now, even though the vive is more expensive, Probably because of people not liking the fact that occulus is owned by FB and has shitty exclusivity deals. I wish more games had cross-platform support. Playing shooters in vr with flat monitor players is fun.
>>
Is it worth it to play counter strike or something in vr with a mouse and keyboard?
>>
>>378823171
It's neat but you will probably get sick unless you have a high motion sickness tolerance. Hopefully valve just adds Vr support to CS:GO. It's retarded that they don't port their games to VR honestly.
>>
Modern day powerglove.
>>
I worked at a VR arcade for a month before it closed and the reason is simple:

90% people didn't understand it
those who did quickly realised that the games are shallow enough that one 30 minute session shows you everything you could want from VR right now

>>378823269
Email gaben everyday with different words and emails so he can't block you.

There needs to be some good game designer who will emphasize on strong points of VR and build game around it. Let's say concept like something simple and accessible like Heavy Rain, heavy on writing, acting, pointing and clicking, searching and whatnot. I do not see it coming soon though.

I have emailed him and he replied. They said support wasn't off the table but they are focusing on entirely new games for VR.

>>378823405
Until we get a solid AAA experience people aren't going to want to pour hours into VR. As shitty as it was, fallout 4 is a huge game with massive normie appeal. Fallout 4 will sell VR, whether it be vives or PSVRs.

>>378823495
Waiting for either new vive controllers or a new peripheral to get mass appeal. The best part of PSVR is having solid adoption of good shit like that controller.
>>
>>378822883
Not all, and the valve survey they did showed people lack enough room to make full use of room scale.
>>
>>378823741
I'm sure HTC has some good shit on the horizon as an answer to those touch controllers, which look awesome btw.
>>
Pretty simple really, no one provided content similar to pic related.

video games, porn and 'experiences'. Gay.
>>
>>378822535
In a sense, the fact that people use the word "experience" rather than "game" says it all. But to be more concrete, the problem is that nobody can come up with a good UI paradigm for it, and most likely nobody ever will. Interactivity being an unsolved problem is why we have "experiences," since you don't need to have a good interaction story to have an experience.
>>
>>378822535
It didn't. I just spent 3 hours commanding a starfleet vessel in star trek: bridge crew. It is great and people who say vr is dead or a meme are actually the ones memeing because they've never tried it.
>>
>>378822535
>Underwood can have a presidency bursting at the seams with problems/corruption and be just fine
>Conway yells and cusses at two pilots and it's the end of his campaign with the help of a deus ex machina

what a fucking retarded plot
>>
I only tried phone VR and it was awful. And I don't feel comfortable blowing 600 bucks on a proper headset.
>>
>>378824849
>I only tried phone VR and it was awful

Phone Vr is shit, it uses phone gyroscopes which are shit for tracking movement. Really poisons the well against good VR.
>>
It wasn't what they expected it to be they wanted Tron and got a pop up book
>>
>>378825024
>they wanted Tron and got a pop up book
Wut

Please explain what you mean because that makes no sense, some games are incredibly immersive and that new start trek game proves seated vr experiences can be really fun.
>>
There needs to be incentive to get one for people to get of the couch to use one
Is there any good games on it?
No?
Well is it at least affordable?
No?
How about convenient?
No?
Then you lose any potential buyers.
>>
While watching the VR getting shilled I have never been so confident that something would be a gimmick and a failure. Low and behold it's a catastrophic failure and that makes me laff
>>
>>378822535
There just aren't any VR games that make anyone want to go out and buy a VR headset. 99% of the games look like toybox garbage or at best extremely shallow experiences that you wouldn't ever come back to after 5 minutes of dicking about. To get VR to really take off, there would need to be actual system sellers, something like Skyrim (and I know how much /v/ hates Skyrim) for VR would probably have made it a big hit with the plebian gaming masses and would have shown to developers that it's worth making actual games for, instead of putting the cart before the horse here by making the VR headsets and then just hoping someone bothers to make real games for it.

Until I see an actual immersive experience I would want to have on VR, I'm not going to buy one, and neither are 99% of people.
>>
it isn't immersive like we want its kinda like motion control in that we hit the limit on what vr can really do super early in its life cycle
