Bendy has a cute design. That's really the only good thing about it though. Shitty indie walking simulator #1001.

unplayable without y-axis invert, devs are more interested in selling merch than implementing basic functionality available in literally every other video game on earth

Mechanically it's not too interesting, the puzzles are kinda fun and there's actually combat, which is rare in horror games nowadays, but the atmosphere, music, and characters are top notch, and there's definitely a neat story.

Objectively worse horror game than FNAF and a waste of the concept of cartoon horror.

Imagine a survival horror game set in an amusement park where eerily realistic cartoon characters (I know HYPER REALISTIC etc but realism makes rubberhose cartoons look genuinely horrific) are roaming the streets.
>Horrible warped "half-cartoon" humans kind of like splicers that can be killed and switch between muttering in a normal voice and in a high-pitched, cheery cartoon one
>Invincible pure-toon enemies that cannot be killed permanently, only escaped - something like a shotgun to the head will only cause their head to cave into their torso, leaving them to reach around and pull it out of the socket
>Cartoon characters are constantly cheerily taunting you
>Slapstick humor with realistically violent consequences, like a dropped anvil doing about what you'd expect a dropped anvil to do

Bendy doesn't have any cultural background to it, and that's a fucking shame. Because if there was a game made by a guy who had an appreciation for classic cartoons and horror and was a big history buff on those subjects, it'd probably be good or at the least interesting.
You look at FNAF, and the guy making it had artistic influence from real world media like 80's horror and of course animatronics. Like it or not, the guy did some homework for it.

All those ideas you gave were interesting, and won't pop up in Bendy because the creator's influence is purely based off of what's popular in horror games at the moment.

I'll maintain forever that FNAF 1's budget art design and atmosphere are top-tier as far as recent horror games go. The jump scares everyone throws a fit about are literally the least scary part of that game, it's the waiting, the monitoring, the buildup. It's the fear you have as a kid when you have to walk past a dark hall to use the bathroom and you just have this terrible feeling something's in it.

Undertale wasn't really a youtuber game, exactly. It was more like Steven Universe than FNAF, something cutesy and quirky but 'deep' that pre/early teens could really latch onto. Like Homestuck I guess, which is fitting considering the guy worked on the music for homestuck.

Yeah, I agree. It was pretty underrated in terms of horror. The same feeling I got in P.T. when the radio announcer started speaking to the player reappeared when you can't find somebodyo n the cameras, or when you see Foxy go down the hall. It's that same knot in your stomach that a lot of horror doesn't do anymore.

Just because it is 'gameplay', doesn't automatically mean it ain't a walking simulator. There needs to be some actual depth to it, which isn't 'collect X' or 'use Y with Z'.
