RF4 is probably my favorite that I've played.
Been stalling on Trio though due to having to tend to an actual garden recently. Doing the same thing you're doing IRL isn't as fun.

I'm playing Trio of Towns and I'm well into my first fall.
How do I make bank? I've been making pretty steady income, but I keep blowing it on upgrades/circles/seeds. Also what recipes should I be buying?

For me it was getting a steady income from farm animals.
2 or so cows and chickens start pulling in the bank when you shove enough treats in them to get 20 products a day with some being golden.
Then it just gets even better when you get a dairy factory and start chucking cheese at your box.

Selling gems that you don't really need.
Savescum at the mines to easy money.

There's also animal products that you can sell. Animals are pretty OP in general, but that's a long term investment.
If you haven't already started on working towards +byproducts then I suggest you get on that ASAP.
It takes quite a while to get done.

Have the amount of Bugs generally decreased once XSeed started localizing the games?

I get the feeling Natsume wasn't very good at bug testing

RF3 is a good place to start for that series.
Back to Nature or Friends of Mineral town are good starting points for Harvest moon.

Rune factory is a series that generally gets better with each installment
thanks to QoL improvements, so although RF3 is a good starting point it makes playing the previous games harder.

Is there some kind of IRC or Discord for this series?

I'm about to the Harvest Festival, to Challenge Mr. D on expert mode, Would Wheat with one stat maxed and the others in the 90's work?

I don't know if seedling mode (which I use for Stamina saving) decrease the difficulty of those contests

It's way better than the previous Story of Seasons game. It picks up a lot near the end of summer.

Once you have enough $ to get some crops going, I would suggest ignoring chores (except for special ones, and shipping ones). I realized I was burning myself out on the busy work when I could focus on more lucrative options.

I agree it doesn't really compare to RF4 though. Mostly makes me want to go back to it, DESU.

Every animal produces a unique product.
BUY EEEEEVERYTHING!
Especially the fur producers. Even the alternate color ones, they produce different color furs you can't dye because HURR DURR.
Also definitely a regular chicken first just so you can get a shitton of eggs.
Shove treats down everything's throats. Shove special fodders down their gullets. Spoil the fuckers.
The jersey cow and buffalo aren't required for that much recipewise but give a good chunk of change with their byproducts. Quail and silkie chicken make Three Egg Omelette when combined with regular chicken (also their stuff sells for decent and Dessie likes silkie eggs)

The biggest moneymaker in the game is definitely making Omelettes (sells for like 2000 a piece) and if you have max byproduct amount, you can make 80,000 daily. And you can just buy Soy Sauce and Rice from Tsuyukasa, a stack of 99 sells for 53,000 and you make a profit if your cooking brand is high enough.

on the Trio of Towns cooking contests, is it okay to use ingredients gotten from other players or will I automatically lose if even one ingredient was made with something I got from another player?

The towns having separate schedules is kind of a good thing though.
It means that there's potentially a store always open if you need something.

The DLC is in five packages. I've heard that the first two packages are being merged for the NA release, but who knows if that's real.
As for what they contain, I don't know what each package contains itself, but overall they include marrying Stephanie and Woofio, additional dialogue for all characters, about three or four extra events involving all the marriage candidates interacting with eachother, and more clothing options.

I think so, yeah. But according to the dev blog, the translation of all the new dialogue and lines in the DLC is about 200,000 characters. Compare that to the first Corpse Party game which was 210,000 characters.

I would recommend starting with RF3 even if your waifu is in RF4.

RF4 is a great game, but it's also very mechanics dense. RF3 eases you in a bit easier and introduces all the different concepts at a more metered pace. Straight to RF4 might be a bit overwhelming.

Also if you do power through RF4, going back to RF3 might feel like a bit of a letdown, which would be a shame because RF3 is a great game, and probably my favorite of the series.
