She's there to get the people that like the edgy blood knight chick with depressing gloomy back story (TM)'s dicks up. I'm also 99% certain she's also meant to appeal to the femdom crowd since she fights bare handed and has some rather interesting dialogues particularly with Rokurou and Laphicet who I would almost swear is meant to be some kind of player insert character. There's also some deep fetish shit going on with the whole devouring thing.

All the chicks in this game like the last few at least dating back to Xillia seem tailor made for maximum appeal to the waifu crowd. I mean they've gotta sell these Full Price games and DLC somehow if they're going to be doing them on a yearly basis. Tales Fes is this month I believe so you can bet they announce like at least a half dozen more of them.

Has one of the best cast of characters in any JRPG in recent memory. Laphicet in particular is a stand out for being the complete opposite for what I was expecting him to be, especially towards the end of the game. Unfortunately the game is overall bogged down by horrendous level design both inside and outside of dungeons. All in all a very solid 6-7/10 kind of game.

I still can't tell if people say this because it's actually good or because they fap to Velvet, Eleanor and Magilou. I mean this is the internet, but people had nothing good to say about Zestiria largely due to shit that happened in Japan to do with waifu characters that they barely understand anyway and suddenly there's this hyper sexual "first female lead" character in what looks like a direct response to that backlash and people are cool with Tales again. I'm sure it's a fine game, but it really does seem like Velvet who might as well be your average otaku/weebs wet dream is the reason tales is suddenly "good" again to the internet.

The English voice acting is fucking atrocious.

First 15-20 hours are fun, then you realize it all will be the same until the end with some added skills and some grindy areas.

You will also only use velvet for 90% of the time (except against magic users).


btw. Dialogue is kind of fun though.

I like the game but I've been forcing myself to play it.
Combat and characters are great but everything else still sucks. The plot is not interesting at all, though I'm used to it in Tales Of games.
You spend most of the time going around the world but you rarely have contact with the main villains.

I bought it recently, too. I didn't like Zestria, specially since they had Alicia's shit as a separate DLC, so I wasn't really eager for it but so far I'm liking it. It's actually kinda fun and the characters are more colorful than I gave the game credit for. Well, except Velvet, she was super bland, having her brother moirdered is the best thing that could've happened to her as a character because as a normal girl she was as bland as tofu and half as interesting. As a demon of vengeance she is tequila off a sexy bellybutton.
