The "more sales" part is the worst of it. Games are so expensive to make these days that you're trying to get much more sales than you used to need just to break even. So if you have technically difficulty games (as classic action games tend to be) you're going to hit a smaller audience.

That being said, I'm surprised fighting games are still going as strong as they are considering they have quite a lot of technical depth and you can't really do much of anything if you don't know the inputs.

Nope, the game still uses animations and movesets from other Souls games. It's ultimately built off the Souls combat template and uses a lot of its assets. Even the faster weapons have quite the wind-up on them. This becomes a chore when you start facing some of the faster bosses because you soon realize you're not gonna be in some heated battle, you're gonna wait for an opening, land 1-2 hits, repeat. It basically zaps all the momentum away.

In Ninja Gaiden you constantly feel like a killing machine, but lose focus for just a moment and you're dead. You hit hard and enemies hit just as hard back. Creating a much better flow.
