I thought Witcher 1 was just really tedious. W1 you drink them with a quick animation from your inventory, they last a long ass time, and provide buffs that were practically mandatory for many fights.
W2 you need to meditate, open the menu, select the potions to drink, exit the menu, sit through a slow potion drinking animation, go back into the menu, exit the menu again, slowly stand up and you have a barely noticeable buff that lasts for 10 minutes and runs out during dialogue.

I have questions about potion system in W3
Is it closer to W1 or to the W2? Does toxicity actually make you go and take a rest from time to time or is it still immediate drain the second a potion wears off? Also they were fucking useless in the second game, except for the healing one and cat. I hated how you literally can't find any alcohol in it except that one wodka at the very end.
A shame since I love mostly optional details like edible food and such, and they basically cut everything about alchemy out. Is alchemy build even viable?
I think I could enjoy Witcher 3 if it fixed the most glaring issues with 2. Combat IS better right?

Pretty much all 90s style CRPGs seem to be impossible to get into unless you grew up with them (I think that the first Witcher belongs to this style). I love Gothic 2 but come the fuck on. Witcher 1 is neither slow nor boring. That would rather apply to Gothic 2 if you play NotR because you have to grind the shit out of every single xp just to barely scrape by.

The learning curve in G2 was this: Put every single fucking point into the weapon and according attribute, otherwise you're going to suck. That's about it. Witcher 1 was great because it really made you feel like a Witcher. You had to get gud at alchemy, collect the proper herbs and alcohols, you had to prepare like Batman for combat and use your swords/witcher signs intelligently.

Also it doesn't have that boring aspect of W2 where it feels like a visual novel in that "here's a cutscene, decide something that will inevitably bite you later" moments don't appear all the fucking time. It was also longer by 2 acts.

Seriously. I replay Witcher at least once a year for the soundtrack and atmosphere alone. Witcher 2 I played once and dropped like a hot potato afterward.

I noticed a lot more variety and enthusiasm with the Polish voices, which isn't surprising seeing how the devs are Polish so there wasn't a language barrier with the voice actors and the voice directors. The Polish npc's voices also seem to have an echo when they're in caves which is a pretty cool effect.

Witcher 1 was the most boringest game I ever played. The only reason I completed it is because I was stuck without internet for about a week and had literally nothing else to play during that time.
The one good thing I remember about it is Act 4 (? I think it was 4) where you go off to some unrelated comfy village away from the main game and take part in a completely unrelated side plot about midnoon rituals or whatever. That was almost neat.

I'm wondering if I should just skip the first Witcher game and go to 2. I've played up to the bit where you meet the detective and you fight off the ambush. I just don't feel like I'm having much fun. Are there any vital story elements I'll miss if I skip this game?

I played through it for the first time a few months ago, it was definitely an enjoyable experience, but it did have it's flaws. Most of the swamp areas felt like a hassle more than anything, the first area was kinda comfy, but a little dull, the combat system worked, but I wouldn't call it exceptional by any means

Morrowind is a good one. No map markers, no easy fast traveling, basic journal. Most Skyrim players can't handle it

I'm the same way. I absolutely need to make sure that all the side quests in an area are done before I can move on to the main quest. However, I think there are at least one or two quests you get in Chapter 2 that you can't actually complete in Chapter 2, but the game does nothing to indicate this.
