Not to mention Mia's first case involved her. Edgy was part of it too but I think he was already climbing his way up, that wasn't his first case.
Also, Mia's defense of Nick in the case involving her ends up spurring Nick to work under her specifically.
The only person more responsible for the events in the series in general is that asshole pastry chef from AAI2.
