anyone playing this game? is it good?
>>
Pretty good, rate my space ent ship.
>>
>>378736428
is it difficult to get into?
>>
>>378737119
It's takes a while to understand every single mechanic but it's not hard getting into it and learning.
Unless you really fuck up badly, you're rarely at a huge disadvantage against the AI, it's not like some other games that completely shit on you the moment you start lagging behind.
>>
>>378736428
Space ent are the comfiest race
>>
So which is better?

Stellaris, ES 1, ES 2, or some other game?
>>
>>378737843
ES2 and Distant World Universe
>>
Why is it so taboo to just release a complete strategy game instead of making them all DLC simulators?
>>
>>378737843
I thought ES1 was kind of shit which is why I haven`t got the sequel yet.
>>
>>378737979
How is it incomplete?
>>
>>378737997
I tought the same but i'm having a blast with the 2
>>
>>378737960
DWU doesn't look very graphically pleasing even for a 2014 game.
>>378737997
It was fun, but was kind of hard to get into.

Multiplayer is unplayable at the moment
You will get constant desyncs, what the fuck were they thinking?
>>
I feel like a idiot because I just found out about upgrading your armies and the system upgrade system.
>>
>>378737997

I thought the same and really like ES2. it's like they took the best parts of legends and applied it to space.
>>
>>378735779
what's that? a dead space mod?

ES1 is pretty basic yeah and all their other games are better. For those wondering, ES1 is completely removed from canon with ES2 so you don't need to play former at all. The canon continuity is DotE > EL > ES2.

MOO2 is still king, galciv2 is also alright.

Yes, but bugs. Amplitude themselves admitted they fucked up.

what about the new starpoint gemini? or is it different genre?

I haven't played DotE and only a few games of EL, so what is the meaning of this trailer?

EL's canon ending is Vaulter quest victory. They find and fix a Hissho ship called Grey Owl and leave Auriga on that, only for the Dust crystal power generator (which is hinted to be the same crystal you escort in DotE) to explode and spread Dust all over the universe in a part of someone's grand plan. Vaulters' fate is left unknown, but at least Opbot (Vaulter quest narrator) survives and he was voted as a recurring hero character though it seems he isn't implemented in the game yet.

Alternative version of the trailer you posted (notice the Dust Crystal): https://youtu.be/iA4hrKOddHc

In retrospect it might actually not be Virtual Endless, but a Lost since the big main plot of ES2 is about reviving the latter and they're the original creators of Dust, and if Unfallen questline is anything to go by may be "beings of light" which is similar to Virtuals. It actually makes more sense.
A New Beginning trailer: "I had reached perfect harmony, before they (the Endless?) came, and destroyed everything."
Sophons / Vodyani's vision trailer: "Its search for power, and its thirst for Dust will nourish our (the Lost's?) return. At that moment, those who stand against us shall all be reminded who their gods are."
>>
>>378740570
I though the trailers were narrated by The Heretic.
>>
>>378740570
i thought the vaulters got the succ from the vodyani?
>>
Does the game feel complete? I'm wary because of early access and all the fragmented DLC in Endless Legend.

Different genre. These are more 4x turn or real time space conquest games. Starpoint is a budget freelancer.

Where do I look for more info on the Lost?
I've so far only got the snippet from the end of the Unfallen quest chain where they realize the heart of their planet is just one of them but they never even mention who the Lost actually are.
>>
>>378741189
>Where do I look for more info on the Lost?
Do the Academy quest. Do the Vodyani main quest.
>>
>>378740737
I'm actually not sure about it myself. A New Beginning and Vision trailers have the same narrator, but I can't figure out whether Pathfinders' trailer narrator (who is definitely Isyander) is the same or different voice actor.
https://youtu.be/QBo-4f3b90o

Nevertheless you'd run into few problems if Isyander was narrating A New Beginning and Vision.
https://youtu.be/iNQNms-qmBk
Vodyani evolved and eventually ascended from their flesh forms after the "the plan is in place" narration and Dust spreading all over the universe as the result of Grey Owl exploding, and Isyander himself is the Vodyani leader's brother, meaning he really couldn't have orchestrated Grey Owl exploding before ascension and it doesn't explain the Dust Crystal stowaway in DotE's The Very Short Movie trailer. In addition Isyander's plan is to revive the Lost who he refers as "them", so it wouldn't make sense for him to talk about Dust nourishing "our return" if he narrated Vision trailers.

The one where you side with the fanatics I guess because I didn't get much out of the other option.

Also, I had the quest start pretty early in another game, how do they expect me to have enough heroes to cover all the lodestones?

Have they yet added any actual rewards or galaxy effects to academy endgame quest? Last I played it, it was just shitty 1000 Dust, 800 Science and 75 of 2-tier strategic resource (Adamantian or Anti-Matter), in essence pocket change tier shit by the time you complete the quest.
>>
>>378745195

Any tips for playing the Vodyani?
>>
>>378745589
Find a minor faction to bully ASAP.
Retrofit your ark with passive essence generation modules (not leechers) or industry modules so you can pump out more leecher ships and fleets to defend them.
Colonization techs are pretty important since Vodyani exploit all planets in the system where they've docked.
There's no limit to how many leecher ships you can park on an enemy / minor faction system, but it does steal food and growth enough to go negative and eventually make them lose pops until disappearing altogether, so while you should go crazy with leecher spam, you should probably abstain from leeching one pop systems if you intend to keep them for leechcucking. Leeching with ships gives you much more essence than actually invading systems.
Prioritize essence to build new arks instead of new pops. Vodyani grow based on food as well, it's just much slower.

The start can be rough, but when you start snowballing you'll snowball hard.
>>
>>378745571
It shouldn't be a surprise, though. Both Endless settings are connected and it was known. Not to mention events in Legend kinda all but spell out what's gong to happen.
>>
>>378738749
I don't think that really means they wrote out ES1, though. Just means they're pushing ES2 as representative for Endless Space instead of the first game.
>>
>>378745589
hope you spawned next to a minor civ
build new arks then move one of em in the middle of the neighboring civ's systems
>>
>>378746249
So should I be moving my arks around at all? Or keep my home planet?
>>
>want to try a new faction
>play five turns and just end up playing as united empire again

Anyone else have these problems?
>>
Does influence have any value for factions other than empire?
>>
>>378747319
it expands your borders and stops your planets from getting overwhelmed by a neighbor with higher influence
>>
>>378747378
Er I mean those purple star things. That empire can use to buy things but all other factions seem to just use for politics.
>>
>>378747613
That's what I'm talking about, a system's influence generation is what expands its borders.
>>
>>378746869
If you find systems nearby that are plain better then moving the ark is recommendable. For example in early game your starting system may have only two colonized planets, but a nearby system has multiple low hostility planets (i.e. ones that don't require research), good anomalies, strategic and luxury resources so you might as well switch there in order to get a headstart. System improvements stay with the ark they're built on so you don't lose them when moving arks, though obviously they won't be growing either while mobile. You could also use one as a mobile base behind enemy lines by invading a system, docking the ark there and then repairing your ships. Arks are also the most powerful early game units so if you get bullied by something your ark will most definitely wreck them.
>>
>>378735779
I refunded it, combat is worse than the 1st game
>>
>>378735779
Nope I ran into a game breaking bug and there seems to be nothing about it or how to fix it anywhere.

You know the planet intros you get whenever you find a new system? Well whenever I find the system in the academy that planet intro freezes and I'm forced to end the process. Completely unresponsive in every way. Its not even a full crash either because the first planet pops up and starts spinning but its name and information doesn't pop up so its something under the hood just getting stuck.
>>
>>378747613
It enlargens borders so you can claim stuff like black holes and asteroid fields.
If you have more than the opponent, you can start bullying them and writing demands.
After you unlock a certain tech, you'll be able to buy planets with influence if they're in your sphere of influence (pro-tip, when you're space trees, everything covered in your tree shit is your territory, so you can even peacefully take over their home planets).
Then there's making any diplomatic deals which costs a few hundred for every proposed thing.
Lastly, you can change government types for about 2 grand and of course they are naturally seeped away by the better policies.
>>
>>378737643
At least until the Cravers get hungry.

>combat is worse than the 1st game
I don't honestly know how anyone can come to that conclusion.
>>
>>378737119
The tutorial is pretty good if you ask me, the game has a lot of stuff going on at the same time and the tutorial, which is otherwise a completely normal game, eases you in, one mechanic at a time. Makes it really easy to understand.

I felt this way at first, it took me at least 20 resets for something in my head to finally snap and I've wasted over 50 hours on the game since
>>
>>378748112
Thanks, I had no idea system improvements moved with your Ark, that helps a lot.
>>
>>378748921
It's actually pretty easy to get into. Just start as a basic faction like the Empire with the tutorial on.
>>
>>378748921
I haven't played ES2, but I've been through the same shit with these type of strategy games in the past. Now I have no problem with any 4X or GS, I know that when I get ES2 whenever it goes on sale, I'll be able to understand it in like an hour. Have you played any other 4X games?
>>
>>378749313
I've played Civ5 for about 150 hours and still suck at it. I've never been good at these kinds of games, but I love them.
>>
>>378749571
You are literally me because I have about 150 hours and I've only won one game of Civ5 on Prince difficulty, but I still love them. You should certainly try other games too though like Endless Legend, Stellaris, or even some Grand Strategy games. You might really like the GS because there's not really a goal anyway, it doesn't matter if you suck, it's still fun.
