Darkest Dungeon is far from hard, the devs were too retarded to implement a fail state and add variety to it, that's why they instead made the game grindy and reskinned every boss.
The only plebs are you DDfags who think their game is difficult rather than just tedious.

What's the point of character progression when enemies progress too? You do more damage, but they have more health. You have more health, but take more damage. The net gain is just a larger number without any purpose. Just a time sink for resources to get your numbers bigger. I was never starved for cash to the point that I couldn't upgrade every one of my party members.

Tediousness =/= difficulty

I haven't played the new mode, but I dropped the game in earlier version, not because it was difficult or I was doing bad, but because it's so damn fucking grindy and you have to keep repeating trash missions over and over again for heirlooms and town upgrades. Gameplay itself is solid, but doing the same thing constantly eventually makes the appeal dry out long before reaching the end.

As opposite example take Invisible Inc. for instance where the campaign is very short, one mission failure is punished with campaign failure, but you also permanently unlock new starting agents and programs depending on how well you did. Or even XCOM where the campaigns are longer, but there's an ultimate failure state keeping things tense.
