So I'm thinking of getting Oblivion GOTY for PS3. I used to have it years ago on 360 but my 360 broke like 4000 times. I recently got a PS3 and kinda want to buy Oblivion for it.
Do any money glitches still exist for GOTY Edition post-patches?
I remember always using the duplication glitch on 360 to get tons of arrows and money, but I think it got patched. Does that one still work on PS3 GOTY Edition or are there any other glitches that'll work?
Just pirate it on PC man.
just get the PC version faggot
You should get Oblivion on Steam and get some PS3 exclusives like MGS4, LittleBIGPlanet, InFamous 2, etc.

If you're serious, the dup glitch should still work.
Why the fuck would you get the shitty PS3 version? PC or bust. If you can't afford it, pirate it.
>>378716221
the scrolls dupe still works on all platforms
I already have Oblivion on Steambut I absolutely detest playing Bethesda games on a keyboard/mouse. I play all FPS games on keyboard/mouse, but for some reason Oblivion and Skyrim just feel made for a controller. I've tried many times, but I just can't.

>So I'm thinking of getting Oblivion GOTY for PS3
>>378717476
Get a controller.
>>378717689
360 controller support is non-existent and the mods for it won't get them to work properly
I don't have a Steam controller but don't really care for one. Would be cheaper to just get it on PS3 honestly and would save the headache.
>>378717786
There are multiple utilities you can use to make a controller work for any game.
>>378717923
Like what?
Please let me know. I'd rather save money by just playing my PC version on Steam if I could get my 360 controller to work but I've tried everything but nothing works properly.
>>378718995
I don't think you've tried everything.
Try MotioninJoy or Pinnacle.
>>378716221
>Elder scrolls game
>On a console
>>378719286
I'll admit I haven't tried that, but I remember looking on the Steam forums a while back about those and even with them, people couldn't get it to work properly.
>>378716221
Trick question, you don't play TES on a console. Why would you deny yourself more than ten years' worth of mods?
>>378716221
>for PS3
>>378720212
you can't play PC Oblivion with a controller, it just doesn't work
>>378719286
donttttt use motioninjoy; there's one made specifically for Xbox controllers that I used for my PS3 controller. I cannot remember the name, but it started with X. maybe xinput or something like that. it was extremely lightweight and easy to use. mij is gross
>>378720315
I unironically enjoy Oblivion and Skyrim without mods. Had tons of fun with both. I'm sure I'll get called a pleb or tasteless for that, but I just enjoy the quests and gameplay.
Seriously. I'm not baiting.
>>378719550
>playing elder scrolls after 3
Dude they haven't patched Oblivion in years. If it works on console it works on PC, just don't download any of those trash unofficial patches before you get the exploits done.
>>378720576
I'm more or less the same but I have to play Oblivion with a character appearance mod because those plastic block head looking motherfuckers give me the creeps
Holy fuck, just pirate it you nugger.
You can run it on a potato these days, unless your PC is a potato from way back when.
Plus it's like $10 on G2A.
>>378720797
>>378716316
>>378716342
Plus if you get into fucked glitches and stuck on rocks like I usually do in Oblivison / Skyrim you can just moon magic console command yourself out of it.
Skyrim is $10 on g2a. Should I grab it from there? Or would steam sales have it lower?
>>378720768
you kind of get used to the potato faces after a while
it's only in comparison to something else that you really realize "holy shit these are awful"
>play Oblivion GOTY on PS3
>get vampirism because that sounds cool as heck
>end up really fucking hating it
>do the quest to get rid of it
>turns out the quest is bugged and you can't complete it if you have shivering isles
>can't uninstall DLC on GOTY
>it only affects the PS3 version and was never patched
>>378720629
>playing elder scrolls at all
>>378721931
I know that feel
>tfw miracle resonance will be bugged on PS3 for the rest of time
>>378716221
fuck elder scrolls its a pile of shit game if you want an rpg play witcher 3 or a jrpg
>>378716221
bethesda games run like shit on PS3 pro. do your self a favor and dont do it, get it on PC
Post unmodded Oblivion characters
>>378722267
>witcher 3
>rpg
>>378722267
I'm probably the minority here, but I'm not an RPG guy at all.
I like action-adventure games and Oblivion and Skyrim just happen to fall under the RPG genre while mainly being an action-adventure game so it tickles me in the right spots. I've never tried Morrowind, but it doesn't look like it would appeal to me.
>>378722474
witcher 3 was pretty boring. the open world is dead and nothing compared to skyrim.
So what mods would you guys recommend for Oblivion?
>>378720526
xinput is what i use for emulation, that anon should give it a try.
>>378716221
>oblivion on ps3
jesus christ dude get like a $300 PC or something, holy shit
>>378722695
Does it work identical to how it was on 360?
>>378722530
nah if you like Oblivion you'd like Morrowind too
>>378722584
>Good open world
>Skyrim
Gonna have to pick one friendo.
>>378722749
you bring up a config menu, click on the button you want to map to the controller, and then you press the button on the controller, you can make the controller work just like 360, or do something completely different if thats your style. I don't have Oblivion on pc right now, so i don't know if it works for it, but its definitely worth a shot
>>378720576
So do you just never level so you don't run into the level scaling making enemies stronger than you?
>>378723107
It's been like 6 years probably at least since I've played Oblivion so I don't remember exactly how high my level got. For Skyrim I got to like Level 60 or something with no mods, but I did use that Oghma Infinium exploit.
>>378723107
I don't understand people bitching about the level scaling.
it presents a reasonable challenge at lower levels, and then once you max your skills you just steamroll everything
>>378716221
I've played it on the ps3. There are game breaking gitches that Todd never bothered to fix and the Shivering Isles expansion is fucked. Also, the level scaling breaks the game. You can still get some fun out of it tho.
>>378723528
Because goblins who's asses you kicked at level 1 will tear you apart in packs of 3 to 4 because they've gotten so powerful. I can understand promoting efficient levelling, but this method restricts the players freedom because if he doesn't concentrate on certain stats from the get go, he's fucked ten levels down the line. Efficient levelling is also pretty hard when the game has a really weird way of distributing attribute points, too.
It would have been better if they introduced entirely new, stronger enemies as you levelled up instead of just beefing up the old ones.

>posting reaction gifs
>>378717786
Just get a PC gamepad. I use pic related for emulation, and it works just fine. It's shaped just like a PS3 controller, too, so you'll feel comfortable with it right away.

What are the game-breaking glitches other than the vampirism cure thing?
>>378722584
Fuck off, Todd
>>378717476
>first person
>controller
>>378722275
>PS3 pro
>>378725579
The Shivering isles quests fuck up making the expansion unbeatable, I had a fair few crashes and suffered frame rates that made it borderline unplayable at times, and yes, the vampirism thing (which can actually be fixed if you swap the language over to german).
>>378723528
It's just the sense of progression. It's so satisfying when you get strong and are able to destroy the asses of the shit that gave you trouble. There should be new enemies introduced as you level that still present a challenge, but old enemies stay around too so you can feel that sense of power you gained.
>>378722649
Oblivion Character Overhaul - so characters look decent.
Enhanced Hotkeys - for a much better hotkey system.
Equipment Converter - lets you transfer stats from one item to another, so you never have to choose between looks and effectiveness.
Keychain - because having all those keys clogging up the inventory is annoying.
DarnUI - because all Bethesda games need a UI mod.
Then when you're done with Oblivion, play Nehrim. It's pretty good.
What mods do I need to make attractive female characters for "role-playing" purposes?
>>378726512
Oblivion Character Overhaul and HGEC.

I've never heard of this. Googling now but not finding much. Care to go into detail?
