I think they did a bad job of conveying it since there aren't really any curveballs that Rigel throws at him, but the fact of the matter is that he conquered a nation and the only time Rudolf held back for him was when he was fighting him one on one at the very end of act 4.

I mean gameplay and storywise, why don't you actually command 50-100 generics? Have a half dozen or so well written anime characters as general, and let the strategy and roleplaying (both of which are virtually nonexistent at this point) stem from choosing where to send then, how to equip them, and how you as a commander win a dynamic war.

I liked the FE formula back on the GBA, but as the series continues certain aspects seem contrived, RNG perhaps most notably, and its lack of evolution despite the rise in price tag is so arrogant. Not to mention IntSys has successfully ruined and/or killed their other series.

What does FE have over the variety of SRPGs released in the last decade, or even further back? Jerk off material? As it becomes oversaturated with musou shit, mobile shit, 3 "full" games in 2 years, and DLC practices worthy of EA/Square Enix, it's becomingly increasingly difficult for me to not resent the franchise. It's got nothing, and is acting like it has everything. No writing. Terrible gameplay. Awful graphics.

Gameplay: Because part of the point of Fire Emblem is that each unit is "precious" and losing one is supposed to be a big deal. If you want a game with hundreds of generics or where your units are disposable, there are plenty of other games that do those things.

I thought the mechanics themselves were more enjoyable. I liked that they also added physical skills using HP in addition to the old magic system. It's honestly way better than the RNG skill system of "have a chance to do more damage but it's not a crit".
That aside, the games are more than their maps. Shadows of Valentia may have had bad maps, but its everything else was a lot better than Conquest's everything else. I personally really loved the story
